HI. I heard soundbars are good to get ….. though I've not used one before. We just watch TV/netflix - no games, no music. I saw on another place that not any soundbar will do, ie. some only good for smaller (32" TVs).
So if anyone has thoughts, and recommendations - I'd appreciate the expert advice.
Many thanks.
Soundbars are the audio equivalent of the gold-plated HDMI cables that dealers try to sell you.
Some soundbars are more expensive than the TVs they are connected to…
Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.
My Ozbargain equivalent is an all-in-one audio system that one of the kids left behind when they moved out.
I used an HDMI audio extractor to bring out the sound from the HDMI signal going into the TV (from the Beyonwiz/DVD/Foxtel/Chromecast setup), and fed it through an audio cable into the audio system.
I had to find another remote for the audio system as it had been lost, but the all-up price was a fraction of what a soundbar would cost, and the speakers were a lot bigger too. And it saved the audio system from going to landfill.
It's good for listening to music (much better quality than the tinny TV speakers), and when my son comes round, we can watch shoot-em-ups with lots of bassy explosions.
