Introducing Store Accounts - Looking for Beta Testers

We are introducing a beta feature of store accounts. A store account is an OzBargain account that represents a store, but is not necessarily tied to one specific person only. It cannot be logged into directly, but authorised real users can switch from their personal OzBargain accounts to a store account, and content posted will bear the username of the store account instead of the real user's username. A store account can be shared by multiple users on OzBargain (e.g. team members in marketing team) as long as they are authorised to represent the store.

The reason we implemented this feature was because of the large number of requests from store representatives who also wished to maintain a personal account and keep their work and personal posts separate. This feature will enable store reps to 'switch roles' from their personal account into their store account without logging in and out.

Store accounts can only be applied for by an official representative of a store and created by moderators. The requirements for applicants are:

  • The store must be a well-established business with a website domain, ABN and established history on OzBargain (i.e. not merchants new to OzBargain or marketplace sellers).
  • Applications must quote an official e-mail address for the store account and the applicant must have access to that mailbox.

If you wish to try out store accounts, please contact us via TWAM.

Cool idea, keen to see how this goes.

  • so ABN means store accounts only Aussie business?

    • We'd consider it on a case-by-base basis. The more important criteria is that the store has had some history on OzBargain.
