  • Is this imported or brewed locally?

    • Brewed in the same "style" as Stella Artois

      ….. might mean domestic brew.

question is does the domestic and imported taste different due to how that adjusted the beer, or the time spent in storage eg. domestic is fresher than imported ?

Could mean domestic is truer to taste compared to a fresh bottle in Belgium rather than compared to an old freighted bottle ?

I don't drink domestic clones. I find the real ones much nicer. Whether that's placebo, true or false who knows.

TIL real beer is better than fake beer.

I believe its infers that even though it's a ligth beer, it's tastes similar to the real wife beater. But it tastes like the watered down version that it is.

    • Dan's Stella would most likely be the one brewed in UK.

Are we in the USA or Canada?

      • they are all import? i dont think it is brewed locally right?

Hong Kong is also affected too not just USA Canada.

        • No. Some are brewed here in Australia under licence, and some are imported fro English brewery.

  • It's coming up at $40 for me in SA.

like me a stella artois….but i dont see the point of drinking a 3.5% version of it?

It's for those that like the taste of beer but don't want to be overly affected by the alcohol content.

      • Also known as unicorns.

  • local brewed tastes crap

A little googling shows me ..

"Peroni Nastro Azzurro is the latest premium European lager brand to be brewed under licence in Australia. It joins Stella Artois, Kronenbourg and Carlsberg (all of which are brewed here by Foster’s), Heineken and Beck’s (brewed by Lion Nathan) and Grolsch (brewed, like Peroni, by Pacific Beverages, a joint venture between Australia’s Coca-Cola Amatil and the giant multinational SABMiller).

Most everyday beer drinkers are blissfully unaware that their favourite fancy “imported” lager is brewed down the road rather than in some romantic European city. But some passionate beer drinkers think these “fake imports” are a disgrace: not only do the local brews taste different, say the critics, but the way they’re packaged and marketed borders on the downright misleading."

So almost definitely not the "real" imported Stella.

    • Damn fake reviewers online!

In spite of being imported Stella is frequently available at a reasonable price and the Legere version is even more so. Yes you are getting a lite beer but you also save a couple of carbs at the same time."

  • Even imported is a minefield as I've had stella and Heineken brewed in the UK, not Belgium or Holland, this is just a by product of globalisation and demand from a growing population, as a brand takes off you might not have the land at the original brewery to expand for demand, especially if it's seasonal.

I don't like if it's brewed locally and they try and price it lits it's imported, guess its why we get becks for $40 slab, made local, priced local.

As I'm drinking more flavourfull beers like golden ales, American pale ales (james squire seems to be $48 slab regularly at dans) , czek pilsners ($3.60 for 500ml bottles), etc, these light beers just really seem to lack character as they compete with my soda stream for flavour.
