Up to 80% off Baby and Kids Wear - Closing down Sale @ Lollyandleaf.com.au

130

Hello OzBargainers!

My wife has been running a from-home retail business selling baby and kids wear over the last few years, and unfortunately it has not been overly successful, she has decided that it is time to call it a day, and she is trying to get rid of all her stock. All prices are at or below wholesale price (not making a profit on any of this, just trying to get rid of our stock and recoup some money).

The prices might seem a little steep compared to Kmart, Target, Bonds, etc, but all stock is designed by small, local Australian businesses, and some brands (e.g. Anarkid) are made from certified organic cotton.

So basically more expensive than the stores you mentioned & no warranty because you are closing down.

Hi WatchNerd, we are still bound by Australian Consumer Laws and will honour any defective products with full refunds or replacements.

I know it's not for everyone, and yes, some items are more expensive than mass produced clothes from China that you can find at your mega retailers in Australia.

How would customers get in touch with you once the business has closed down?

        Where are your products made?

        • +7

Some are made overseas, some are made locally. Our point of difference is that we have stocked brands that follow fair trade manufacturing practices. For example:

Anarkid is manufactured under strict ethical, moral and fair trade guidelines in India:

One.Chew.Three are handmade locally by a small Australian business:

Tiny Twig: Due diligence on health and wellbeing as well as fair wages and safe working conditions are a pre requisite for all partners working with Tiny Twig.

@llanfachreth: I agree, and who the hell would follow up a warranty claim for a $5 baby top…

        • +2

@gamblor80: What do you suppose is the warranty's purpose?

        • -2

@PJC: I understand the warranty's purpose, and fair enough if it was damaged and $$$ - I guess I am way too lazy to go through that process depending on the cost of the item.

So how would you do that with a business that has closed down?

        • @PJC: track them down with a private investigator

        • +3

@gamblor80: Yes, that is a much more practical approach than inquiring how to contact the vendor if a problem arises.

Good question! All contact details are included on the invoice we send when shipping goods. We are just a Mum and Dad business and we are not looking to mess anyone around, that is not our modus operandi. We are trying to exit this business as gracefully as possible.

          @brendanmoran:

Thanks for your replies, wow anyone would think I negged the deal! Instead all I did was quote what you said in the description -

The prices might seem a little steep compared to Kmart, Target, Bonds

Then ask about the warranty because you are closing down. So not sure why I'm getting negged as this seems like a reasonable question to ask considering the circumstances.

good luck with your next venture.
its unfortunate to see another small business close.

Thanks Konji. I'm trying to talk the wife into a high yield (~ $80,000) investment. Something to do with cars I think.

Just make sure it has band 28 ;)

  • From https://lollyandleaf.com.au/pages/returns-policy
"Sale items are priced to clear so please choose carefully as we do not accept returns on sale items.

Under Australian Consumer Law, we are not required to provide a refund or replacement on final sale items if you change your mind. This includes a change of mind with regards to colour, size and fit."

    • +5

Thanks Foodee, this only applies to change of mind. This is separate from a Warranty.

      "FAULTY ITEMS

We do our best to thoroughly inspect all items prior to shipping. In the rare event that a product is faulty please contact us ASAP at [email protected]. If the item is faulty, we offer a full refund of the purchase price. We will cover all postage costs to replace it with an identical item whenever possible. "

Wow! So much negativity, even after you asked people to be gentle. I would like to say that I'm sorry your business wasn't successful and best wishes for the future.

    • +1

I agree, so many negs. It seems members don't like you asking about a warranty & quoting the Rep when a business is closing down.

      • +2

Yes, even when Associated OP replies …

        Good question!

    • Amazing, isn't it? Shoppers seeking reassurance before commitment … so negative!

  • +2

Good luck OP on your future endevours- the rag trade is cut throat, and despite your point of differentiation, most Australians would rather buy clothes cheap made by quasi-slaves than pay a little extra to give them a living wage.
