Lifespan Fitness Treadmill Vulcan $551.20 + $120.94 Postage / Torque II $719.20 + $98.39 Postage @ GFL Marketplaces eBay

POWERLIFT

I've been looking for an entry level treadmill for a week or so and monitoring the deals. Even if you don't want to spend too much from what I've read, I read that you should still get above a 2.0 Continuous HP (CHP) power unit for longevity. I stayed clear of the 1.5 CHP units.

The Vulcan looks like a good deal at $551.20 for a no-frills 4.0 CHP unit. The Torque II has more bells and whistles and I've been looking at it at $899 for a while so at 20% off it's $719.20 which is a good deal if you are in the market for a treadmill since I've seen them sell second hand for at least $400 for a several year old unit so the resale for Lifespan isn't all that bad.

Note that I did pick up a second hand BH Fitness model for $250 nearby because I wasn't sure whether my wife and I would use it for a clothes hanger, but I'd probably get the Vulcan if I was still in the market now for a entry level unit that will last a while.

A few models linked below:

Apex (choice awarded, 2.5 CHP) $911.20 + $118.19 Standard Postage
Boost-R (choice awarded, 2.0 CHP) $759.20 + $69.24 Standard Postage
Torque II (2.75 CHP) $719.20 + $98.39 Standard Postage
Vulcan (4.0 CHP) $551.20 + $120.94 Standard Postage

I just want to know why all the promotional images are just 3D renderings? Surely they'd have a picture of the actual product?

They've got videos if you are that way inclined

      (no pun intended! haha)

I'm gonna have to walk away from that one.

Nice bounce from some of those scenes. If you know what I mean.

        • @ltwo:

          I’m in love.

  • Can't decide between the Vulcan and the Torque II :(

    • Get the Torque II if you can afford it

Resale seems quite good because it's choice recommended (actually just the Apex and Boost-R are choice recommended but from experience I've found that the price is high because it's popular whilst the Vulcan wouldn't be as easy to sell)

      • $200 postage on the Torque II (to WA). Need to re-consider now.

  • Had very hard time claiming the warrenty with lifespan austrlia. Avoid if you can

I feel like treadmill is the last thing you want to buy new. You'd see plenty of ads on gumtree selling them barely used.

    • That is true but in the case of Lifespan fitness because they are Choice recommended (ie. Torque II and Apex) the resale seems to be good from what I've seen on EBay gumtree.

I had a guy desperate to sell (wife kicking him out) and he wouldn't go below $400 for the Torque II that was 2 years old and regularly they are $500-600 for a 3+ year old unit.

Walk/run outdoors. I know I will get a lot of flak for this, but cannot recommend walking/running outdoors enough. Dont spend money on this stupidity. If you really want to get an exercise equipment, I would go for a multigym or rower (my fav)

You have a point but each to their own. They have their uses like for the wife after she puts the kids to sleep she’s not going to go to the gym or run in the dark. She’d rather watch TV and run. Many of the posts I’ve seen on gumtree represent such a target market and indeed the fact that they are passing them on means it no longer suits their lifestyle.

        • I totally agree - of course individual circumstances are different. But if you can, running around your neighborhood is a nice thing where you get to "explore" the streets that your car won't run past.

Also the air is fresher outdoors (depends on where you live)

I can run outdoors for hours (literally) but I could only run on a treadmill for up to half an hour.

  • I paid $710 + $83 shipping for my Torque 2 three years ago. Can't believe the price didn't go down but instead went up!
