Which Xiaomi Phone to Replace Note 4

Hi guys,

Looking to replace my Note 4 as I am frequently getting the error "SIM card removed".

I am confused by the myriad of Xiaomi phones available on the market. I need something with a decent battery life, enough to last whole day. Budget is up-to-date $300.

Cheers,

Homer

  • Check out Techtablets. He's done a few videos on the new twin camera Note 5. It appears to be very good with 2 days battery life.

  • As bad as it sounds, I recommend you try to carry a power bank.

I hated it at first, but realised it hardly added weight to my work bag, desk, and my car.
So if needed the extra juice, its not-inconvenient when the battery gets drained during the day and gets charged while seated somewhere.
However, it needs to have a Fast Charging feature to make this tactic of "trickle charging" work.
While it seems like a good idea for Wireless Charging when you're on the go, I realised it makes very little difference because its so slow.

I realised even a phone with bad battery life like the iPhone SE can last longer than the OnePlus 5 (the battery life champion).
Most phones can last longer than a day (~1.5 days) using medium workload, an improvement since the days of 2014. The only time battery life becomes a concern is when you start using it with a heavy workload, or there's something draining it (constant LTE switching, HD YouTube for hours, Graphically rich games, unoptimised code running in the background). That's where the philosophy of "trickle charging" kicks in.
…because we don't have the luxury of hot-swapping batteries, that died with the Samsung NOTE 4 and LG V20.

This sounds off-topic, but its a great advice which I wish I adopted earlier.
Grab the phone you want, adopt this tactic, enjoy a great battery life.
