What's wrong with samsung? I had my samsung tv repaired after 8 years of owning it and have told it still have warranty left? What the?! I didn't even buy an extended warranty for it.

NOTHING !!! But I would never buy another 6 Series….
Laggy TV and Colours wrong on 55" a few years ago.
Sent it back within a week and repaced with 7 Series :)

Every Samsung product I've owned has broken and its a nightmare to deal with there warranty department!!!

      • Samsung - good hardware and panels, but terrible TV software. Their 'smart' features are possibly the slowest, least updated craps out there.

Honestly, there is no good reason to get a Samsung TV over a Sony TV. Both are excellent build quality, but Sony really outshine Samsung with basic software and post processing

jb salesperson - 'if its cheaper somewhere else buy it there'

I now take this advice and don't bother much with the rudest store in the mall -any mall that is.

    • Maybe he's just having a bad day, forced to work on an easter long weekend. :)

      • sadly its a pretty standard retort these days from many staff when price matching mentioned.

        • Followed by "Oh no the sky is falling. Australian retailers have it tough. Online is killing us. Retail is a tough gig and my job is under constant threat.". Boo freakin hoo.

If it is cheaper somewhere else then buy it there? I got the same answer from Harvey Norman when I tried to beat a price then match from BingLee. He was upfront, saying he can't do it.

Stores have margins, and unfortunately each store and each rep has their own margins which pretty much is the luck of the draw. One customer may get a great price and the next customer may come in wanting the same deal, but that store/rep used up their promotions. Pretty common.

      • cept they say it all the time now, every day, on virtually everything.

don't price match eb sales anymore, most tv sales etc etc

I mean is it really a competitive business anymore or just price fixing with its other half the good guys?

When it wanted market share it pricematched, now it has market share with the good guys it doesn't. Oligopoly back in action, courtesy of the Australian obsession that monopoly is good business for consumers.

If they don't want to compete its a mistake to buy from them, better to buy from businesses that do want to compete. The only way to obtain competitive prices is from competition, and that is not how jb works anymore.

All these post taxes is not about security, its about price fixing domestically.

The high cost of Australian labor is in part driven by inflated retail prices - that is bad news for us all.

if a game is a dollar cheaper at eb they will not match it now!

Only 3hdmi ports, so not for me. I use all 4 on my current TV.

    • +1

You can get HDMI spliters but they have their limitations.

3-way 1080P ones are as cheap as $10 but no remote so either power down all but one device, or you'll have to get up and physically change the input. You could put some or all of your 1080P sources on one, and you'd have two ports left over for 4k for a total of 5 devices.

Or pony up $100 and get a powered spliter.

      • +1

Or buy a TV with 4 inputs?

        • +1

Sure if all other things are equal. They never are though. It's always a set of trade offs when picking a model. This doesn't have to be a deal breaker is all I'm saying.

        • @syousef:

You are correct, of course. However, there are enough TV sets out there that will satisfy this simple requirement, so I'll pass.

        • @mrau:

Your (substantial amount of) money and your call, so I have no problem with that whatsoever. All the best when you do buy.

  • These are a great tv and top value.

  • Cheers for this. My mother bought this for $2700 odd from Harvey Norman last Saturday. She got $457 back as it was within the 7 days

    • How do buttered buts look on the 75inch screen?
