Does the phone sag when installed, main culprit for these things.

    • Mine sagged. Perhaps because of my iPhone 7 Plus

    • Not sure about this model but my model has a screw in back that you tighten after rotating. Its pretty sturdy. S6 here.

      • I think it's my vent that actually sags and not the holder :(

        • My vent sags too but you can set the position from there!

    • No, you can do up the holder quite tight so it doesn't say. However, I find aimng the vent down to begin with and clipping on to the portion of the vent that has the thick tab that you use to direct the vent is the best, most secure and stable way.

    • I use this, and this holds mine tight, using for note5 and pixel 2 XL. I have lather flip case with note 5, so when I flip the front part, the car holder is actually holding on the front cover but it still holds very tightly

I would say this is the best product that I ever used.

This thing is great except when you want to use your AC because it either blocks cold air or overheats your phone.

    • +6

      Cold air is good when…
…phone is hitting the magnified sunrays, fast-charging, streaming music, connecting to LTE, and doing GPS Navigation.

      • +2

        exactly…

In winters, when you turn aircons to heat mode, simply close that vent's airway switch and you can still have this thing mounted to the vent.

      • Just get a car with dual-zone climate control - problem solved!

        • Isn't it cheaper to replace the phone 10 times rather than changing a car?

    • Press China above the 4 selections of stock and then the colour you want.

  • How hard is it to open the clamp to insert the phone in?

I have one (not sure if genuine), and it's extremely hard to insert my phone in one-handed.

The flipside of this is that I know it's not going to fall out easily.

    • +5

      I’ve pinched my fingers.
I prefer the magnetic one now.

    • +1

yeah the "spring" is quite hard but it can be done with one hand. Definitely holds on to the phone!

    • +1

It's a bit fiddly, you really need two hands to get the phone in/out. Although …. you're not supposed to mess around with the phone while driving.

    • Frankly, I'm just going to say it, the thing has a lot of tension on it to hold a big phone so it naturally takes some effort to open. It requires two hands to hold it onto the vent. One so it doesn't move and the other to slide the phone into the holder. Magnetic would be so much easier but your phone could fall off on a bump. For the price I expect no more from its design… You decide.

      • +1

A rather dramatic response, but thankyou samizzle.

        • +1

Haha I over analyse everything! 😁

  • Own 2 of these, very handy. Blocks aircon vent yes but keeps your phone cool (esp when charged) and prolongs batt life.

  • Could someone describe how it attaches to the car?

I'm looking for a phone holder for my push bike, and was wondering if this could attach to the handlebar area.

    • +1

i believe it clips to the air vent

    • +1

it attaches to one of your air vents. Definitely not handlebar. here's a pic from google images

Got one last time. Dunno if I got a bad one but it doesn’t hold my phone upright anymore. Just turns horizontal it cause it’s heavy. Only happened this month

    • +1

Tighten it up from the back. It happened to mine.

      • Cool I’ll give it a try tomorrow!

  • These are great! grabbed another one.

  • Got one, thanks

Well, don't you take part of the blame since you're "associated"? Shame on you, Kapinny.

      • -2

whoops must have accidentally ticked the box for associated, i am not associated to this vendor

        • -2

Haha! I know. That happens sometimes. Just wanted to mess with you. :p

          Don't listen to him, Aussiedaddy.

He's an employee who accidentally forgot to uncheck the box, before criticizing his aliexpress overlords.

Kapinny -I hope they don't fire you.

This better than the Original ROIDMI Car Holder
Magnetic Air Outlet Mount Bracket Phone Stand? I've got the Roidmi and love it.

    https://www.gearbest.com/stands-holders/pp_625749.html

  • -1

Don't forget that vent mount blocks a large part of the vent, and if you don't close the vent, it will get very cold/hot when the air conditioning/heater is on.

    • +1

You need vent open for clip to work.

      • I meant stopping the air flow.

I still not receive mine ordered at the end of Jan

    • And with 8000+ ordered I think everyone will be waiting a while for these…

    • me too =(

    • Still waiting too

    • Damn. I ordered mine on 23rd Feb. I really wish it was here by now.

    • +3

Yes I ordered mine on 31 Jan as well and haven’t receive it. Seems like the seller is taking buyers for a ride. I have opened up a dispute last week. I’ve just been told by live chat that it will be escalated next week as that’s when buyer protection runs out.

I encourage all who ordered in end of Jan and didn’t receive it yet to open dispute otherwise you will run out of time.

    • thanks for the prompt about dispute… been wondering whether mine was going to arrive. Lodged dispute, ordered two more!

    • It's Aliexpress. What do you expect?

  • +2

Just going to say that these sag on horizontals by quite abit, and this deeper fin config really doesn't help that vs the fat older one in that its a concentrated mass on a much small surface area in terms of where it's placed on your ac vents.

And it only really works on small-medium sized horizontal fins, if your fins spin or are vertical do not buy these they will become a merry go round and ferris wheel aio.

Edit* To be a little more fair to these, the plastic is of a good quality and the price is fabulous, so if what i mentioned above does NOT apply to you and these fit perfectly then its still a steal, thanks OP!

  • +2

got one of those vent magnet things, havent looked back since. heaps better than these clip style ones

  • Seems it is Sold out as cant add to cart

  • Bought a couple a while ago, they are ok, only problem and reason I don't use it anymore is my dash has quite a slope and the arm on this is no where near long enough to get it to vertical or anywhere near that, so it ends up pointing at the ceiling. Which is pointless.

  • I got one of these last time and the clamp warped after a few uses.

  • These are crap. They're hard to put the phone in, and hard to put the phone out. A phone dock should be easy in, easy out. Ideally, it should be one-handed operation and no extra force needed.

    • +1

… That's pretty much that she said.

  • Received unbranded fakes before from an eBay deal posted before…. No faith on the rock products

    • This from the official ROCK store not an eBay seller. These are genuine.

  • They are designed for phones to be positioned landscape mode, hence there is no bottom support. Problem is that the phone's weight just pivots the holder all the way down.
They work well if your headunit sits slightly above your AC. Otherwise don't bother buying these.

  • +3

I bought three of these last time to replace the apparently fake ones from a previous deal (which were good, but broke very quickly). I ordered the new design. I agree these are made from a sturdy plastic and are of good quality etc. but the overall usefulness is not great, at least for me.

I want the insertion and removal of the phone to be a one handed operation. Unfortunately when you try to do this by pushing the phone into the sliding side of the holder to open it up, the grip is not strong enough to hold to the vent and the whole contraption just comes off the vent. In my case I have to either hold the holder with one hand while inserting the phone with the other and readjust the holder’s grip on the vent, or take the holder off the vent, mount the phone on the holder and then mount the holder and phone back on the vent. This in reverse to take the phone out. For me this is a major pain and makes them unusable.

It’s worth noting a few things:
    - the ball offsets the holder from the vent, which creates significant leverage when trying to insert the phone as described above, so the grip can’t hold on.

    • the new design has a spring to hold on to the vent, possibly the old style is stronger.

    • the “fake” one I had previously did not have a ball, so was able to hold on to the vent significantly better for one handed operation (less leverage on the grip).

Your mileage may vary, but this may be worth considering before you buy.

  • Have V1 and love it.

Seems to show 0 available however ? Shame. Thanks anyway OP.

    • There's 1236 available :) Just need to select China next to "Ships From" and then choose the colour.

  • I found the old/fake version better than the new version. Old/fake seems more sturdy never failed. New version, first use phone and holder went flying across the car. Was either cornering or braking but wasn't aggressive by any means.

    • ^^^ Fake seller here

  • Some of you people clearly don't know how to use something so simple

  • ordered 2 last feb 1 and haven't received it yet

  • This post is a classic case of "buy-quickly-in-case-it-sells-out, then-watch-negative-comments-flood-in"… Lol

    @kapinny, can I get a refund please? ;)

  • Is this going to break my phone because the holding spring mechanism is sooo tight!

  • I got this for more than 2y, it works perfectly.

  • Kmart has got for 4 bucks

  • +1

I bought this one but it doesn’t do the job

  • Bought one through last deal and spring mechanism is crap, the updated ones might be better though

  • And now we wait, cheers op.

  • Are these the updated version / are there updated versions left?

The OP said to select the updated version, I don't see it unless these are it by default.

EDIT: Nevermind I see it's in the selectable pictures.

  • I currently have one. Wouldn't recommend it.

  • Thanks bought one. The grey updated version is gone, only green left.

  • For those of you having issues, it doesn't work from my iPhone but works perfectly via the desktop.

  • -1

Tried to get the old ones via ebay from a few months ago, but didnt come.
There was a $4 off $5 USD coupon that popped up so got 3 for under $4 AUD. plus cashback. Win and TY OP.

    • How to get that coupon?

      • Just popped up. Screen kinda went dark and there was a red coupon thing in the middle saying $4 off $5 USd

  • +1

Anyone notice one of the photos has a description saying "unstable, unpractical and ugly"?

    • I think it's a very badly designed way of saying the old style "X" Clip they had was unstable, unpractical and ugly.

It's just that it doesn't really state they are referring to the old design, they just put an "X" above it.
