I just paid a large Bupa Health insurance bill through their phone service with amex card, and just checking my Amex account online, it says "BUPA AUSTRALIA POST" in the pending charges description. I am worried if I will earn points from the transaction, since Australia Post is a government organisation and due to the recent interchange fee changes and its effects on points earning cards. It was a qantas discovery amex.
Does Paying with AmEx at Australia Post Still Earn Points?

Yes, you earn points, but only 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent.
Alternatively direct debit it onto the Amex card, I've set up my Bupa payments to do that. Otherwise see if you can postbillpay it via PayPal linked to your Amex card.
Thanks. I was trying to pay directly to BUPA and using the phone service to avoid paying through auspost, but it turns out that was through auspost as well. It's a bit too late to change anything, since the payment has already gone through. I'll have to wait till this time next year to change it. Well at least I will get half the points this time.
I buy all of the postage stamps for our business via Amex card and get 50% points.
