Seemed like an ok deal for a no lock in contract energy plan.
I switched from momentum energy gas as the prices were more or less the same.

    • Me neither. But I recall reading after the third month billing

    • Got my code 2 weeks ago and received by beats headphones today.

I received my "unique promo code" today in an email for me to redeem the headphones. Ordered via the website, added the colour I wanted to cart, applied code, filled in shipping address, checkout at $0 and I have it confirmed!

    From the email:
"We hope you enjoy your Beats Solo3 Wireless Headphones on us. It's our way of saying thanks for switching to amaysim energy."

    Some details about my process:
    (1) I didn't receive a targeted email to redeem. I just signed up directly online after reading about it on ozb
    (2) signed up for their energy plan on 28 March 2018 and applied code beats18
    (3) none of my confirmation emails (until today) made any mention of the beats headphones
    (4) received email on 16 April saying I will be connected soon
    (5) received email on 23 April saying I was connected and my account was live
    (6) received my first electricity bill via email on 4 May
    (7) received unique promo code to redeem beats solo headphones on 10 May. Promo code is valid until 30 September 2018.
    (8) now we wait for them to be imported and delivered…

    • Me too. Finally! Lets hope it doesn't take 2-3 months for delivery

      • Yep they need to get here soon so I can switch to a cheaper provider.

    • Thanks for the update. I just received my first bill (was more than what I paid previously for the same usage from Origin, but turns out they don't apply the discount until the next month) and was wondering when the code gets sent through.

Hopefully I'll have that unique promo code email sent to me once the BPAY bill goes through in a week.

      • Disappointed that u get discount on second bill. So you are always one month behind discount. That's really low, now r they going to refund discount when we switch to another provider?

        • I thought the exact same thing. I believe there wasn't any mention that the discount only gets provided on the following bill. With Origin the discount was applied to the current, not next bill.

It's low, but they are still the cheapest provider for me in my area once the discount is factored in.

I have not been able to see my electricity usage in the my account section. I like to be able to track my usage so I can minimise electricity I don't need, so that's a bummer I can't do that at the moment. I wasn't able to do it with Origin in the last few months either, but it worked for years. It's probably a problem with my meter. I had a big one with my water meter recently where 4 years of usage was billed to me in a single cycle.

It's probably why they discount this way, because they know that they will get a few more dollars when it comes time to change providers.

        • @c0balt: from my understanding it's a guesstimate. So quarterly checked and divided by 3.

  • I received my unique code Email but it doesn't include the code itself!?
Makes no sense or I am just dumb.

  • I was advised that to disconnect/ de-energize the service when we move it will cost $61.97 and final meter reading is $51.19 with Amaysim.

Does anyone know whether there is a cheaper provider out there I could change over to before moving to save on the disconnection fees?

    • I’m keen to know as well

  • This has been the most painful thing I've ever done. I've been live chatting them over the last month and each time I've been told I would receive the code within 24-48 hours. Today I've escalated it to the ombudsman.

I've also complained about how amaysim apply the discount in the following month which apparently will not be refunded upon switching.

I'm switching today without the headphones and will be shortpaying my final bill to the value of the 40% vic discount.

    • PM me for direct email contacts to amaysim advocacy team. I ended up with the headphones and 100 dollars credit after all that.

  • Received a code today… despite cancelling and moving to the $250 sign up deal
all too hard for them to work it out, so looks like I need to now sell some Beats Solo's on ebay to try and offset the cost difference

    • Did you receive an email with the offer or did you only know of the deal through ozbargain?

      • via ozbargain

pretty annoying screw up by them, as they apparently had no way of providing the promised $ promotion and I was stuck with the headphone coupon
(guess whose likely switching away after a bill or two…)

  • I've been told by amaysim that I'm not eligible to receive the headphones as they were all allocated and they have no more in stock (their store clearly has Beats headphones in stock).

I've since made a complaint with the Ombudsman and will most likely switch providers soon. Amaysim hasn't followed the timelines provided by the Ombudsman and so its been escalated to an investigator.

    • That sucks. Let us know how you go.

They've only just switched me over and I've emailed them about the headphones and waiting to hear back.
I have the original email as well as the confirmation letter from them upon sign up saying I would get the headphones.

I'm in the process of making an EWOV ombudsman complaint.

    Quick overview:
    1) Signed up on March 27 using the code.
    2) Connected April 19.
    3) Made live chat request on April 23 asking when I will receive the code - was told I will receive the code and instructions after I paid the first bill.
    4) First bill paid May 22.
    5) Made live chat request asking if I could be sent the code and email now that my bill was showing paid on May 24 - was told I will receive it in 10 days.
    6) 10 days past. Still no email. Started another live chat. Was bounced between many people before someone mentioned to me that their sales team can't see that I used the 'beats18' code to sign up.
    7) Told them I will be going to ombudsman now that I have been told I won't be receiving it with all the transcripts.

  • So I applied at the end of March and almost 2.5 months later still no code.
    Amaysim have confirmed I'm eligible.

Looks like I may have to wait till I receive my first bill, which won't be till July since they only ported me over in mid May.

Fingers crossed they come through with the deal… This will be one of the longest deals I've waited for…

    • They confirmed I was eligible, multiple times, before on Monday when I called up after multiple deadlines had past to get the code - to be told their systems show I never inputted the code when signing up.

My advice - if you keep waiting, high chance you'll keep getting screwed around, like they did with me. Call/chat with them to really confirm you are eligible for the code and have them send it to you in an email that you will get the code after the first bill is paid. I hope you are not in the same boat I was where I was never actually going to receive the code despite them writing to me in live chat multiple times that I would receive it after x deadline.

      Good luck!

      • After signing up it showed the applied code on screen only. There was no email confirmation though.
Thankfully I had screenshots of my sign up screen. It has all my PII so I can't share it

        • they told me that the marketing dept will send the voucher code after receipt of payment of your first bill. I just signed up last May and received my first bill last night and chatted to them this morning asking the same question.

        • @angelkulit025:

That's what they told me a month ago after I paid the bill.

I'm still going through the EWOV process. I've had a few emails go backwards and forwards with the rep who was contacted by EWOV, and it's going in circles with them saying I never used the code to sign up and me saying I did and have multiple transcripts with them saying I would be receiving it after x deadline, again and again.

Even after all this, if they just agree to send the headphones I'd stay with them as they have the best rates for my area (after discount). I'll be getting my next bill shortly. I won't be paying it if they keep refusing to send the headphones. I've never had a bad debt/unpaid bill before, and I have a lot of evidence that they did not hold up their end of the contract, so I foresee a court date to get that bad debt wiped and damages back for my lawyer fees.

        • @c0balt:I've received my code the next day after I received my first bill.

So my complaint resolved through EWOV and I received my headphones a couple of days ago.
Switched to Red Energy as soon as my headphones were shipped.

    • Just wondering if switching energy provider should would affect credit rating ?

    • What suburb are you based in Melbourne? Is the wholesaler in your area Citipower? Are they cheaper than Amaysim for you?

I just had a look for my area and Red Energy seems to be a bit more expensive than Amaysim once the discounts are factored in.

      • +1

Mines United. I believe it’s on par, probably a little bit more expensive but they have great customer service and after the debacle with amaysim I couldn’t wait to get out.
Main reason for choosing redenergy was the 10k qantas points for signing up

Finally got my coupon code after an epic 3 month wait!

    Got my headphones delivered today!!

EWOV Ombudsman has really pulled through for me in the last month. First I had $350 taken off a water bill for 4 years of backbilling due to a faulty water meter not sending usage, and now a $250 pair of headphones.

The jerk Amaysim Ombudsman liaison service person in their final email told me they would be giving me the code, but that I didn't deserve it and wasn't eligible for it. They treated me really poorly. My whole argument was that if I wasn't eligible, the code shouldn't have worked on sign up, they shouldn't have continued to tell me on multiple separate occasions I would be receiving the headphones after X deadline had past and only when I demanded to get the code after all of that, did they inform me I wasn't eligible.

Anyone who put the BEATS18 code into that website and had it processed was eligible, and with EWOV Ombudsman on my side - Amaysim was always going to honor the deal as it's cheaper than the alternative.

I'll be staying with Amaysim electricity until I find a cheaper provider, even though they are a trash company (in my experience) they are still the cheapest.

Without EWOV I would have been $600 poorer and carrying around stress I didn't need. Thanks EWOV!
