Hi, I've got a samsung series 8 SUHD 55" TV from 2015 which has developed a few cloudy blue circles on the end of one side of the TV. It seems these pixels are unable to show white light. Dark stuff is okay. Warranty is out already, but is there a chance of asking Samsung to repair under ACL or is 3 years too long? I don't have the receipt if that matters.
Issue with Samsung 55" TV from 2015. Can I Still Claim a Repair?

Just pointed me to the warranty page https://www.samsung.com/au/support/warranty/ for TV's which says 12 months.
I was told it's 5 years from date of purchase by the Samsung service centre but only if you have the orig receipt and quote ACL statutory warranty when asking for the repair.
Just chat to their online support team, they're usually pretty good with providing warranty and ACL support.
Had both their TV and fridge repaired under ACL, no questions askedOkay, will give it a shot. Thanks.
You would need the original receipt though.
Bank statement it's good enough
My Samsung washing machine main electrical board was fried 2 years outside warranty period. Talked to their CS and they changed the component free of charge. Not sure if that is my luck or what but worth a shot asking. I did get a very nice CS on the phone so YMMV.
Was it the Wf1104 xac?
Well they want a receipt and I can't obtain a copy so looks like I'm screwed.
Where did you purchase from? You may be able to obtain a copy from the vendor, who are who your ACL rights lie with.
who are who your ACL rights lie with.
what? please explain this riddle.
Received as a gift. No idea where it came from. I'll try and go to JB hifi and Harvey Norman and see if they can give me a receipt. Not liking my chances.
unfortunately, unless you ask the gift giver, you're out of luck. for jb and hn, if they even decide to help you, you'll need the price, date it was bought
@TarquinOliverNimrod: I am sure the ACCC would support you in not needing a receipt as long as you supply a stat dec to the effect that it was received as a gift. ACCC also say that the original warranty is overridden by a "reasonable service life time"
@ozzie freddo: a stat dec won't do anything tho. You don't need a receipt, but u have to have a proof of purchase.
Needing a receipt is BS in my opinion. Other companies have simply asked me for the serial number of the item and taken that as proof of purchase. Anyway, I've contacted JB to see if they can track it down by serial number as it was most likely from there.
serial number
a sn isn's proof of purchase. the item could be stolen property, from a second hand dealer, international model, purchased from an auction, unauthorised reseller, etc. all of those may void the manufacturers warranty.
If you paid with a card then your bank statement showing the payment is sufficient.

Have a crack at ACL. I had a similar issue and said I wanted them to pick it up and fix it. They said no they would only repair it if i brought it to their authorised repairer. Fine I said. 5 min drive. Fixed a week later.
I assumed they thought I wouldnt drive it there.
I have a similar problem with my series7 samsung 55" tv from 2013. Blue/purple "smudges" over white backgrounds, any other colour is ok. Been that way for a few years, but i've learned to ignore it. I guess its something that affects older/aging samsung panels?
The circuitry in it died about 1.5yrs back, had to pay a tv-repairman $450 to fix it, wasnt any other option. No luck. Contacted the gift giver and didn't get a response. Looks like there's nothing I can do.
Give them a beating on ProductReview and Facebook. They may respond.
lot of positives for Samsung here as opposed to lg.
I had a Samsung 1080p plasma. It died 2 years out of warranty. (Blue line down the screen). I called Samsung and long story short, but they replaced it with a 65inch 4K LED. Will buy another Samsung because of this.
Did you provide Samsung with a proof of purchase?
Yep
You provided Samsung with a pop. Samsung did the right by you offering a reasonable remedy.
Op doesn’t have a pop. Samsung may refuse a remedy until op can provide one.
Report back and tell us the result of the above good advice.
Always helps to see how others fair with these types of issues.
What did Samsung say when you asked them?
