So I've been eagerly keeping an eye on the Pro (Tablet Version of the series) since the start of the year. I made the mistake of not purchasing the Aqua bundle, which included an i5 256GB & 8GB of Ram for $1600 at JB Hifi with mouse and typecover but no pen.
Having heard everything I've heard about the Pro, these are not repairable and if it's possible to purchase anything beyond your 2 year ACL warranty, to do so. JB do this.
Anyway, I regularly check prices on the Pro, which hasn't really come down at all like the Book or Laptop, this year since the Christmas sales.
On the type specifically, it's 2018, and I'm not going under 4GB of Ram.
I already use a desktop and a laptop, at home, so I'd mainly use this on the road to manage documents and check files. Most of my apps installed take up a fair bit of GB, so the 256GB is a must.
Summary:
Option 1 - Microsoft Store - Standalone Surface Pro - Intel Core i5 / 256GB SSD / 8GB RAM (Non 4G) is going for $1,699.15 incl. GST. JB Are doing $1698.
Option 2 - Surface Pro Essentials Bundle Intel Core i5, 256GB SSD, 8GB RAM. $1,999. Essentially the type cover and a wallet thing and bunch of other shit I don't care about for $300 extra.
I was hoping to try and purchase it from Amazon, but they don't ship to Brisbane. The cost of the above unit is a lot cheaper.
Any other thoughts for guys looking out for one of these?
Why not wait for the next tech sale on ebay and buy from a seller than doesn't mark up during sales. I got my i7 8gb 256gb pro 2017 for $1840 from thinkofus when jb were selling them for like $2200 (in November)

If you know what price is a good price you'll be well ahead of everyone else and you'll have the power to get a good deal. I guess it just depends whether you need it right now or not.
