65" SAMSUNG SERIES 8 LCD

Hi guys,

I have my heart set on getting a Samsung 65" Series 8 LCD TV in the boxing day sales.

Model number » Samsung UA65C8000

RRP is $6000k. Very few retailers seem to stock them (but all can order in). Normal ticket price is around $5000.

I have seen them as factory seconds (damaged box) for $3499.

I am hoping to get one for around that price and also claim the Samsung Christmas promo which runs out 11 Jan 2011.

Any suggestions of a retailer who is likely to have stock and discount them in Sydney?

  • What's in the samsung Christmas promo?

  • Samsung Xmas promo is a 22" LCD TV, 4 x 3d glasses and 4 Shrek blu ray 3d movies

    • im pretty sure those promo stocks are running out fast!

  • $4500 is the best price I have been quoted on 27 Dec - @ Bing Lee…

  • It would appear JB HiFi, David Jones and Bing Lee all have zero stock, even at their warehouses, but can order in.

  • +1

If you don't want the promo stock, I know of a bing lee closing down in a couple of weeks. You may be able to score a bargain.

    • Krum I am interested - is it in the Sydney metro region?

      • It is the castle hill branch. I think they are closing down near the 10 th puff Jan.

        • Thanks - I will check them out in the new year.

        • Would you like me to find out cost price at Bing Lee for you (i have a close family friend that works their)?

        • Thanks Krum I would be interested in knowing cost price - it helps when you know how much rope they are playing with.

  • Best price quoted is now $4195 from Harvey Norman.

    • Bing Lee will beat that again. Lol

  • Np it might take a couple of days as i have no idea when he is working. Ill post back here when I have the price.

  • Would you consider a HD plasma? Got mine for $2170 delivered plus a free blueray and 6 speaker sound system. Panasonic, won't notice the quality difference if it isn't sitting right next to an LED LCD and 4 star energy rating.

    • What model and where from? Free Blu-ray player?
      Panasonic Viera TH-P65VT20A?

      • THP65S20. 3DTV is the most overhyped technology in my opinion and I don't need it.

        • This price from where? Link?

      • Called Myers during their 15% off TV on impulse, asked for prices for 58" TV and he gave me 65" prices instead, 2570 odd which sounded very appealing. Went into the store 10 minutes before they closed and said I'll have it for 2000. Haggled and got $2170.

Just go in and say you want it for 2000, you'll get it for the same price. Also see what you can do with the 3dtv, they are giving away avatar in 3d which fetches 200+ on ebay.

AND a free Bluray player. Where do I upload the receipt?

        • fungi79. can you upload the photo of the price you got and are you effing serious you got a 65 inch 3d TV for under 2.5k?

        • I've got a photo of the receipt, where do I upload it?

    Hey GreatWhiteHunter,
I've too been researching the 65" Samsung Series 8 and ready to buy one.

If anyone has and proper prices could they please post them in this thread? I'm happy to pay ~$4k and am ready to purchase this week or this weekend. I'm on holidays at the moment. I'm on the north shore.

Did you try Bing Lee at Castle Hill?

Maybe they can do us a deal if we buy one each…

    • I was told that cost price is close to $4k, my mate also told me that you will be very lucky to get it for that price as most of the stock is at the warehouse. My mate said that if you can try and get a hold of samsung representatives in stores etc. That they are the ones that can get you your tv for 4k and under otherwise you are looking at mid-range $4k as the best possible price. I know its not the news your after but that is what I have been told.

      • No problems, id pay $4.5k, I'm keen to get one ASAP.

        • give Bing lee castle Hill a call and ask them for it, tell them to also include delivery you should be able to get it for free, unless you have a ute. Let them know you are looking at 3800 and negotiate hard, also use that your "brother in law" got one from Harvey Norman for $4195 and that you are willing to pay ASAP or you will take your business elsewhere. Good luck

  • Is the Samsung 8000 better than Sony or the new Sharp (with Yellow pixels)?
