Samsung Galaxy S7 EDGE- IMEI Repair

Hi Friends,

I was trying to root my Samsung S7 edge(international version-GT-S935F) and I lost my IMEI number ( it is now 000000000000000/1). I was looking for ways to change it and one way was using "Z3X Samsung Tools"… But its too costly to buy (USD XXXX.XX).

I am looking for your help if anyone can help me in this case. I can't go to Samsung service centre as it is rooted and not AU version.

  • You'll need to start researching on places like the XDA forms most likely. Here's one relevant thread/guide I found after a quick search:

    • Thanks mr626…..All these attempts are done. I spent almost 2 days on this issue.

      • Ok, you didn't mention what you have / haven't tried so hard to know what to suggest?

If you haven't had any luck via any method you've found online, I think your best bet is likely to be Samsung AU service centre. You could at least get a no-obligation quote for how much they would charge to fix it?

        • Thanks..I will do that.

  • +1

Firstly backup any data you have on the phone and download Samsung smart switch. In the menu chose factory firmware reset. This will reflash your phone back to factory settings and hopefully reset your IMEI. You can then download the correct root file and re-root your device using Odin or you can use king root.

  • I did the same thing to my Samsung Galaxy S3 a few years back. I searched all forums but couldn't find a working fix. I asked a local phone accessories/repair shop and they said that they might be able to fix it and would charge $40 if they could. When I asked Samsung they said they can't repair any phone that was purchased outside Australia (Purchased it in Hong Kong). So I just decided to sell it on eBay for parts not working and get a new phone. I learnt that you should always back up your IMEI number before installing custom roms etc..

Ever since my S3, I haven't rooted any of my devices.

    • Yeah… Late lesson for me… I rooted my old mobile many times and nothing happened. That's why, out of over confidence I played with S7 edge.

  • Restore from your NAND backup.

  • what difference does it make? does it block you from mobile networks?

    • Yes, I can only see EMERGENCY CALL ONLY badge on top.
