    $100 cheaper than Samsung.

winner winner $100 worth of chicken dinner.

  • Personally I don't buy LG stuff because I think they make junk. There is a reason the Samsung is $100 more expensive with less features. Quality.

They have different advantages and disadvantages. I actually have the equivalent LG, but in 65" and also the equivalent Samsung, but in 43" (for the bedroom). I find that neither has significantly better or worse picture quality, but they have a slightly different signature. The Samsung panel is a VA type, which is generally better with contrast and is ideal if you watch TV in the dark a lot. The LG has an IPS panel, which has better viewing angles and punchier colours, this is better if you watch TV in lit environments.

In terms of usability, both are great. I generally prefer LG's remote, it's a pointer style remote (sort of like a Wii-mote) which I think works really well and it has a scroll wheel which makes navigating menus really quick. The Samsung interface (Tizen) is overall nicer than the LG (webOS), but I don't really use the smart features beyond Netflix and Youtube.

Ultimately, I don't think you'll find too much between them. In any case, I'd just go with whatever's cheaper.

  • Any chance you can get the Samsung down by $100

    • Tried with no success…

  • 8 bit color but writes HDR on manufacturer website? Im starting to think Samsung has no shame.

    • LG uses trickery 4K RGBW panel
    • Samsung uses trickery HDR
    • LG is not the best to look in the dark - IPS & slight DSE.
    • Both have ups and downs so its subjective
    • Both are entry level 4K screens.
    • Wait till April for updates and then you can buy these for even cheaper :-)
  • What prices and stores have you gotten. Both of these TV's seem to be the same price at Good Guys.

    • LG is $995 and Samsung is $1095
