        • IT ARRIVED on 17th Monday.

Had a quick look at box before giving it away so can not give to much details.

What i did see was no box damage at all, looked fine. Security seal on slide out box
was broken. Inside seemed fine, but i didn't know what to look for.
Can't tell you much more as no longer in my possession.

          cheers

        • Now that took its time. I cant believe it arrived in Australia on the 13th and you get it 4 days later. Thats pathetic.

I guess you decided to give it to your neice as a belated christmas pressie.. or did her birthday end up creeping up while ASOS were sorting your problem?

        • +1

Well you can't really count weekends in the 4 days it took.

Mum was there when it arrived and i handed it over to her on the spot. Didn't feel like holding onto it till nieces birthday in November.

Well i'm glad this little episode is over.

Thanks kimba for opening this thread that has allowed me figure out they had forgot my order had been lost, and not notified me or sent an new one until i had made contact with them to chase it up. Bit of a hassle but it all worked out for me i guess.

  • I was concerned re:

    • no security seal. Seemed weird that from ASOS, there were people with security seal (intact), with broken security seal, and without security seal. The discrepancy amongst buyers is odd, and the uncomfortable feeling that the product could be fake or tampered with.

But my GHD registered fine, and to be sure i also called up GHD Aust and they confirmed it was genuine.

The wear and tear with my packaging (both outer and product packaging) were minimal and i put that down to handling and transit of goods. It's understandable and can be expected.

GHD Australia said the GHD's here don't even have security seals, the box just slides in and out freely. That suggests to me security seals aren't a prerequisite to it being authentic. GHD Aust also said that customs can sometimes open the GHD boxes to check the product, hence ripped security seal.

    • As previously mentioned, no DVD or info booklet. All available online as confirmed by GHD Aust.

    • My research found that real GHDs come from Korea. But GHD Aust confirmed they have now moved production to China.

    • My research found that real GHDs have all metal prongs not plastic prongs. But my one has two metal ones and a plastic prong. So i was wondering whether that meant mine was fake (this is before my code validated) but i had a look online and it seems all UK adaptors are like that. GHD Aust woman said she doesn't know anything re UK plugs and couldn't comment.

Anyways, i am going to commit to my GHD and let the matter rest. lol … plus i can't bear the hassle of the whole returns process and getting it again unless it's in poor condition. It seems perfectly fine, and GHD Aust confirmed that if anything goes wrong they will fix or replace with brand new one under a 2yr warranty.

  • Well I finally received the GHD today, and although the cardboard box it came in looked like it was runover by a truck, the GHD package looked absolutely fine. No security seal or remnants of any sort of seal.

That came really quickly since it got re-sent.

Will register tonight, but looks pretty genuine to me.

    • Thats good news! Did the other one turn up by any chance? Lol

      • Did you receive 2, kimba88?

        • Nah i received only the one.. mine turned up the first time.. just really late so it was no longer a christmas present.. more like a new years present ;-)

        • I ordered mine 3 December as a present for my husband to give to me (yeah, very convoluted). It was supposed to be delivered 21 December but it didn't get here until 4 January.

My hubby was in trouble 'cos he didn't get me an Xmas present. :)

        • Lmao! I did the same for my partner! ASOS havent been very convincing with their service to be honest. Did yours arrive in good condition?

        • The outer box looked fine. The inner box had a small tear but no big deal. The ghd itself seemed fine too.

I ordered the black one that was on special but inside was a gold ghd safety manual. Not sure what to make of that.

        • See thats what i dont get.. how can the inner boxes be damaged?? You mean the felt inside bit or the actual box (not the sleeve)? If you get what i mean.
Mine didnt come with a manual.. i dont think they are meant to come with manuals anymore.. weird.

        • Yes, very odd. It was the inside box that had been torn and not the sleeve. The sleeve looked perfectly fine.

What I figure was they chucked in any pamphlet (not manual - my boo) that was near (the gold series one in my case). They just shoved it in and tore the box on their merry way.

The ghd registered so I'm fine with it. Especially since there's a 2 year warranty.

        • As long as your fine with it, thats all that counts. Personally, i think because it is such an expensive product, more care should be taken with packing and delivering. ASOS shouldnt be allowed to get away with this sort of stuff and should be notified, thats my personal opinion anyway.

I'll be honest, im still arguing a case against them just saying its not good enough how they promise something and they cant provide (delivery and brand new looking item). Not to mention one of the responses i received worried the crap out of me: 'as you had no seal, your item may be a returned or faulty ghd, return to the UK immediately' (something along the lines of that). Im just trying to get my point across to ASOS that it just simply isnt good enough what they are providing. Its feedback for the company, so hopefully they can improve on their services.
