Deals on AccorPlus Membership?

Anyone have any hints or tips on getting AccorPlus membership at a discount? We're considering a stay at a Sofitel resort later this year (so would do a fair bit of dining) and could also make use of the free night in/around Sydney. In previous threads people have talked about joining through Fiji to get it a lot cheaper, but I PM'd the guy from that thread and he didn't get back to me.

Has anyone joined? How do you like it? Even at full price, it seems a good deal if you're going to use the free night and do any amount of dining at an Accor restaurant, so I'm probably gonna do it.

Is it possible to get a list of which hotels accept the free night without joining?

My wife signed up for one and it was a real pain to book the free night. Got passed from hotel to call centre etc. Our free night was Darling Harbour Novotel.

If you do a lot of travel it could be worth it. We just didnt stay or holiday in their chain.

    • I had the same experience in trying to redeem the free night. They seem to try and make it as difficult as possible. That was at Novotel in Darling Harbour too.

When I used it in Hong Kong, I didn't bring my current membership card, but had my expired one and all identity and booking confirmation documents. It took about a hour before they finally agreed.

    • Can't you book the free night online? The PointHacks guide makes it look pretty easy:

Do you know what the go is with "supplementary cardholders"? Why would my wife need one when I've got one? Other than obviously using it separately without my presence…. which since we travel together is not really a big plus

      • You can book online for some properties - the main issue we had was that we wanted to have more than one night which Accor didn't seem to be able to handle neatly.

I don't have any info on supplementary cards but I can say they don't check too hard.

I've never seen a list of the places with complimentary nights, even if you ring up I found they can't tell you availability for the free nights unless you have a free night available in your account (this is somewhat annoing if you've used this years free night & are trying to plan for next years which doesn't appear in your account until renewal).
Mind you I've never had an issue booking free nights. Every hotel I have checked including Sofitels & MGallerys have has complimentary nights available.
The main restriction that causes it not to show complimentary nights for a paricular hotel or location is pubic holidays, school holidays, long weekends & special events. One of the Pullmans I looked at for a long weekend only showed a free night if you booked 2 nights (i.e. free first night, paid for the second night). When booking multiple nights with one free it seemed to choose the most expensive night as the free night. Multiple nights didn't work a few years ago (you had to make 2 separate bookings & then email the hotel to link them), but it now seems to work well with online bookings (and even works during supersales, etc). Sometimes they dont release them immediately for dates a long way off & once in Auckland they had no free nights anywhere on the night we wanted due to a massive event in the city (it was hard to get a room anywhere).
I found the really expensive in Tahiti/ French Polynesia still had free nights but only if you book a 3 night stay.

Anyway, I've got really good value out of the card. The 50% off makes breakfast very reasonable (even at the expensive places). We've used the 50% off a few times when we weren't staying too & no problem.
One bonus I didn't think about when joining is the welcome drink (part of the Silver status). This varies from place to place but in the Pullman Ho Chi Minh (for example) we could go to the roof top bar & choose any drink we liked. In true OzB fashion we chose two of the most expensive drinks on the list - a Liquid Nitrogen Cooled Cocktail (normal price over A$25 each). Not bad considering we only paid around A$100 for the room during a supersale.
Another bonus is the extra 10% discount, even when they have a supersale. As this discount is off the full rate this sometimes works out to be 15% lower that the normal public supersale rate. If anyone want to know the specific AccorPlus rate for a particular Hotel & dates, please PM me & I am happy to check for you.
I think you need to consider if you are likely to use the free night, then these other perks & the 50% off food are a bonus.

I have been a accor plus member for about 5 years. I have found its much easier now to book the free night since they updated the app. i just booked my free night at Sofitel darling harbour for July, which is usually around $300pn.
Another benefit of accor plus i love is red hot rooms which lists rooms at 50% off (sometimes more) during low occupancy period.
Overall, with dining discounts (some hotels offer better value than others), 10% off, free night and red hot rooms i view it as excellent value. In the past i have also been offered discounts by accor plus sales staff when i have asked. No harm in asking.

    • This is good information. When I used to be a member booking the free night was something of a nightmare.

I find the website very easy now for using the free night. When you search for a hotel it has a slider that allows you to select if you want to use your "stay plus" benefit. I also found that if you search for 2 nights it even makes the more expensive night the free night.
I've had no issues getting free nights in the various places I've stayed, although I generally avoid school holidays, etc.
When browsing around for the most expensive places I did find that some of the really expensive places (eg Tahiti) require you to book for a minimum number of nights (2 or 3) before it will show stay plus availability (i.e. you have to pay for 1 or 2 nights).

  • Anyone know contacts with accor Indonesia or Malaysia or China as they give you two free nights when sign up? The subscription price is cheaper than Australia as well.

I only have a good contact in Fiji.
I beleive Indonesia is now 50% more that Fiji (but includes 2 free nights) & requires an Indonesian address (whereas my contact in Fiji is able to put in your Australian address). Not sure about Malaysia or China.

      • Hey gaz are you able to PM me the details of your contact in Fiji?
        Thanks in advance

    • Is Indonesia, Malaysia or China still giving 2 nights? Just had a look at the website and they seem to say only one night like Aus.

you can get it cheap but not for the faint-hearted. Have to go through 90 minutes of hard sell and if are good at the game you will come out winning.

    • Hargen … not 100% sure I am up for 90min of hard sell, but presumably you were able to get the membership price for at least as cheap as the ~$200 cost of going through Fiji membership application instead?

By the way I thought I would let you guys know if anyone is interested - that I was able to secure an Accor Plus Membership through Indonesia. Finding the right agent that was able to do this and actually spoke perfect English took some time.

    Prices as follows:

New Membership 1 stay plus IDR 2,500,000 ($250 AUD)
Yearly Renewal 1 stay plus IDR 2,300,000 ($230 AUD)
New Membership 2 stay plus IDR 3,900,000 ($390 AUD)
Yearly Renewal 2 stay plus IDR 3,200,000 ($320 AUD)

It was all a relatively painless exercise. I paid for a 1 stay plus membership on Monday at 12 midday and by 3:00pm that day I had a confirmation email from Accor Plus that my LeClub Classic account has now been upgraded to Accor Plus Silver membership. 48 hours later my 1 stay plus was activated on the Accor App. When you arrive at your hotel or restaurant you only need to show the Accor Plus ‘E-card’ in the app. However, if you still want the physical Accor Plus card and physical yearly Indonesia only vouchers (i.e. 2x rooms upgrade certificates, 4x breakfast certificates for 2 people, 1x birthday cake & IDR 300,000 dinning certificate) there are a few ways for this to be sent to you or picked up.

Feel free to PM me and ill set you up with my Accor Plus contact.

    • That's pretty good. 2 free nights can easily worth $600 bux if you book Sydney darling harbour sofitel.

      • Thats right!

Another great perk is the buffet breakfast and we all know how expensive going out to a café for breakfast can be. However, you can go and have the buffet breakfast at either of the typical 4 or 5 star hotels such as Novotel, Pullman, MGallery or Sofitel at 50% off even if your not staying there and the big bonus is up to 2 kids (ranges from <10 to <16 to depending on the Hotel) eat free! So, for example the MGallery by Sofitel Como in Melbourne has a $25 buffet breakfast or $35 buffet breakfast with 1x à la carte option from the menu – and both options include fresh juices and coffees. So whichever option you chose you’ll pay either $25 or $35 total for 2x adults and 2x kids – and you don’t even pay extra if its Mother’s Day! The membership can pay itself off quite quickly.

  • Anyone has contact for accor plus China? I think they have 2 free nights and it's cheaper than Indonesia accor plus.
