dont ever join woot. not only is it completely oversold but to get a connection via SSH can take upto 5 minutes most of the time. woot is one of the worst companies to ever push their crappy spam (look at reviews on lowendbox where they have basically been ousted from the community now) also AlphaRacks.

    Hello Julian… I mean Jason ;-) heheheh

everyone read the comments on LEB - https://lowendbox.com/blog/woothosting-chicago-launch-amazin…

and then safely ignore these idiots

      Hi donkey

I want to thank you for reaching out and sharing your experience — even though it’s certainly not the sort of experience I would wish you to have. The issues that you’re presenting are certainly concerning to me and I’d like to look into this matter and your account personally so that I can ideally resolve this matter permanently for you. If this sounds agreeable to you, I would like an opportunity to speak with you directly, please feel free to reach out to me at jason (at) woothosting (dot) com.

Thank you again, I look forward to hearing from you.

For those who are considering this deal, I would strongly advise against as I was originally with them:

    — As copied from my own review, within the vast negative reviews on LEB:

New customer, would suggest against them.

My personal opinion, feedback and experience:

    1. My background – I need a cheap 2GB VPS to take over my 2GB yearly VPS that I currently have with ChicagoVPS. I don’t really use much load; I only really use it as a backup server.
    2. I registered for a yearly 2GB VPS in LA. It’s not provisioned instantly, but that’s okay because I’m not in a huge rush. I still have around 14 days on my current VPS plan so I was going to do the migration slowly anyways.
    3. After my VPS was provisioned, logging in via SSH took a long time — network traffic, I guess; but it was not the case. The responsiveness of the VPS was really slow too. I thought it was my Internet connection.
    4. Eventually I realised it wasn’t, so I opened a ticket, asking if anything’s going on, and if not, move me to a lower load server. The response to that ticket took a whopping 1 hour and 15 minutes to respond. Also, the response was: “we are aware of high load, we cleared the load, please check now”.
    5. My VPS responded a bit better, however, it still took around 2-3 seconds for me to start vim against an empty file. Responding to the ticket with “it’s a bit better, but still not acceptable”. Again, the response to my ticket took 45 minutes, and the response literally was like “we are monitoring the situation, check back later” (ie. we don’t really give a damn, just use the service).
    6. I’ve requested a full refund as per their 72 hour money-back guarantee. We’ll see if they honour it.

I have a feeling people are going to respond to this comment with something like “don’t expect fantastic service because it’s cheap” or “you get what you paid for” but this is pretty disappointing and oversold to the max. YMMV.

    — EDIT: The refund was given, after approximately 56 hours from request.

Additionally, prepared to be spammed with 2 emails per day with subjects such as:

    [
    "Dang this is still happening!"
    "$500 icing on the cake <Name> ?"
"I just can't hold this anymore from you."
    "Yes this is REAL <Name>"
"It's almost over <Name>, need your input?"
"<Name>, did you get this email yesterday?"
"End the night with a Big BANG <Name>"
"I can't believe this, can you???!"
"Cyber Monday deals from $1.00 per year. You read that right."
    "FCCM —URGENT"
    "doing this for you, <Name>…"
"<Name>: Doing this together? You and Me"
    ]

These emails were over a course of 1 week. I couldn't take it anymore, so my last received email was "Unsubscribe Confirmation".

      Hi IPwnj00

I do appreciate you taking the time to document your experience and while I have not been personally involved in your tickets as of yet (as far as I know), I would certainly like an opportunity (if afforded) to personally review and address any performance issues that were/are encountered (past or present). If this sounds fair to you, please feel free to reach out to me directly and introduce yourself, I greatly value your time and look forward to speaking with you!

  • I've been with woot for a year now and it's been fine. There are some times when the servers might be a little bit slow but its only temporary. I think the people who say bad things are expecting too much for the price to be honest. I just signed up for a $6 VPS and got the details right away and paid with paypal. It's cheap and good value, what more can you expect for $6 per year :)

so your last post was 5 years ago and you decide to pop in and defend a notoriously useless VPS service known for shilling lowendbox ? hehehe

      seems legit bro

their business model is they charge peanuts for the service, because 99% of them dont work properly, people give up and go "well its only 10 bucks a year, whatever…." and the people that get refunded are minimal I guess due to the ammount they charge.

this is their business model. then you can have a heap of overloaded services, no one can use them anyway, keep raking in new customers with the super cheap discounts rinse and repeat across all the cheap bargain sites online until you get run off most of them with angry users.

If Jason (op) - could be julian, depends on the time of day and account he logs into …. actually cared rather than his generic copy paste messages making him seem genuine, he would reply to the hundreds of angry people on LEB but he doesnt…. if running a one page HTML file hitting 100% cpu sounds fine, then yeah by all means sign up to this amazing service lol

  • Was about to order it but won't cause of such a negative feedback.People making difference in the society in this way is amazing.

  • The old if it's too good to be true jobbie hits again :(
