Not sure why the MODS removed this

    (Unobtainable deal)

    • -5

      How is it unobtainable

      • +1

        how to get 109 ?

        169 - 60 = 109 ?

        60 voucher ? at what cost ? free ?

  • +10

It was probably removed because you shouldn't have to buy a voucher for Kogan off eBay (for more than $0) in order to buy a product off Kogan.

You cannot get it for $109 because the voucher requires you buy it, and LightInTheBox sells it cheaper than Kogan ($159.43) so it's otherwise not a deal.

  • +1

hope do you get 109? The kogan vouchers go for $18 so 169+18-50=$137 no accounting for shipping cost

    • +1

Even $169-$50 doesn't get this deal down to $109.
This kids math is way off.

      • it’s 109,correct

if you referrer you self, you will get $10 both side

        169+10-50-20=109

        shipping by shipster.
can get 50 voucher for $10 on Ozb

i bought with him is $10

        • +1

Cool, its a good idea to explain how to get the deal in the description as this is a more advanced multi step deal.

  • $169 is still pretty good price if you get free delivery

  • Appears to be US$107.95 including free delivery from Fasttech:

    https://www.fasttech.com/products/1450/10032371/7083100

(Note I assume it's "slow" delivery and I've not purchased this product from them before so unsure of their rep, etc)

    • $163 for the 2S thats not too bad

      • Yes - I was considering the 2S as well (anyone know if it's really worth the extra $) - I was waiting for one of those Fasttech 10% or 15% off coupon codes to come out (which they seem to semi regularly)

        • If you want the LCD screen i think is the main extra feature

        • @asa79: I believe the sensor (particle count, etc) is also significantly better (and more real time) (same as Pro?) so I believe the unit performs better (more automatically)?

      • Was finally about to pull the trigger and buy one of these, but the 2S looks so much nicer.

Might have to wait a bit longer to see if I can get that for a cheaper price.

      • remember it's usd.

        • Yep - but the 2S is > US$200 everywhere else (and up to US$400 some sites) incl delivery

        • @Remorhaz:

yeah though Xiaomi is generally significantly cheaper than the market which helps with the trade off of no warranty. the 2S is significantly more than the 2 without major feature increase and I feel is not much less then other local air purifiers eg. dyson tower with IOT capabilities.

Though I am weary of the dodgy sensor claims for the 2 so would prefer the 2s, but the price jump is harder to justify.

        • @jayel:

Agreed - I decided to grab the 2 from this deal (basically AUD$139 delivered) to get my feet wet as it were (rather than the 2S which I'd probably prefer but would be at least AUD$210 delivered at the moment).

Haaaaang on, there's now a Mod Edit saying it's HK stock, but there's no evidence this is the case on Kogan's website… it's listed as sold by Kogan Australia Pty Ltd not Kogan HK Limited, and ships in 2 days directly out of their warehouses in Australia…

    • Yep stock is in aus, have edited it back again. However it's still direct import so not aus stock, just supplied from here.

  • Post should be updated for $136.00 - Used the $17 vouchers and shipster so total price goes down to $136. Good price for sure ! Hope it gives me some days free of my allergies :-(

    • You can then also create a new Kogan account using a referral link for $10 credit to bring it down to $126.

  • I'm happy to help a few people out with a free $20 code and you can stack this with a referral from randomiser to make it 30 making it $139 posted

I'll choose 5 people when I get home this evening

    • What do you do for living EC?

    • I'm in, is this how we do it?

        • @easternculture:
          Thanks EC!

  • Are these units any good?

    • I have a friend who's an Occupational Hygienist and asked them to look at it. She started talking micro somethings and HEPA 2.5 PF/obfuscating ditractors or something. I lost interest.

TL;DR - Are they any good? Dunno. Bought 'cos of Ozbargain.

    • Yep they work great, especially a bedroom

      • Cheers. Been looking for something like this for the baby's room.

        • Would work good, there is scheduling via the mi app

  • Thanks OP. Fantastic deal. The ebay coupon I bought I got within a minute and worked perfectly.

  • great! thanks EC

I am shopping around for an air purifier and was very interested in Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2 and 2s. I was gonna buy one and a lot of replacement filters from Taobao.

    The difference: 1) 2s has laser sensor and 2 has infrared one; 2) 2s has LED screen; 3) 2s has some kind of mesh inside preventing kids from reaching the fan inside with their fingers; 4) 2s is slightly lighter. Other than that, same fan and same filter;

Then I gave up finally, coz: 1) The filter has to be changed every half a year (the filter isn't expensive though: about $30 on taobao.com); 2) no ion generator and built-in humidifier; 3) some reviews revealed the filter active carbon layer is sparse and the sensor isn't sensitive enough; 4) power cord is incompatible with Aus powerpoints (2 is compatible).

If you don't mind those, it's still a good entry level air purifier.

I haven't decided which one to go, but likely to be a Sharp one with humidifier and requires replacing the filter every 10 years (maybe 5 in real life).

    • How on earth can the filter last 10 years, is it washable or something?

Mind flinging up a link to one of those reviews talking negatively about the Xiaomi?

He might be talking about this one.

Didn't stop me from buying one this morning though :)

        • That review suggests that there was a software bug or the sensor is inaccurate. Automation can get around the auto-mode problem, if it hasn't been patched already, and there is now the separate 2.5ppm sensor which cooperates with the filter.

          -edit-
Ooh shit the PM2.5 Detector is a bit pricey at ~$60USD

I've ordered the air purifier, I plan on automating it with Domoticz. I'll see how it goes.

      • I don't know the how, but just read from manufacture website. Here's an example: Sharp KCA50JW —> https://www.sharp.net.au/home-products/air-purifiers/kca50jw. Check the Filter Type section in the Tech Spec tab. It looks interesting to me. But I don't expect the filter can really last for 10 years.

        • Hmm the manual for that Sharp says that you wash the deodorising and humidifying filters, but not the HEPA filter, which apparently lasts 10 years in a room you smoke 5 cigarettes per day in. After 10 years its performance has been reduced by 50%. I suppose the filters in front of the HEPA filter capture most of the larger dust particles.

The Xiaomi filter on the other hand is one solid unit that can't be separated for cleaning. I suppose you could brush the dust off the outer filter, but the machine reads the RFID chip in the filter and I imagine it goes into complain mode after six months regardless of the condition of the filter.

    • Did you see the Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier Max?

      https://www.fasttech.com/products/1450/10032371/9635843-auth…

  • Will this remove dust particles from air? I have a very dusty room and always get blanketed with dust.

    • Yeah it does. I imagine that the filter would fill up quickly like this though. Might benefit from a bit of a brush off now and then.

It won't dust your shelves for you though :)

      • Apparently if you dust your shelves, then start using this, you'll never have to dust your shelves again.

Or so I was led to believe by some other comment I read somewhere.

  • Thanks OP - used code TWTGMR7VJL49L and ordered

    • How are you finding it? Been looking at getting one to reduce airborne dust/pet dander.

      • We don't have all that much of an air quality problem normally (no pets and not much dust) so I havn't used it all that often. We did turn it on on the couple days there was bushfire smoke in the air and it probably did make a difference.

  • Hey is this deal still on? How come the price is 199 and not 169? Am I looking at the wrong one?

Anyone else get the wrong cable from Kogan after purchasing this?

    • Yes! I just received mine today and Kogan sent the wrong damn cable.

      • Yeah, they sent a figure 8 cable. Needs a clover leaf cable IEC-C5. Its the same cable as most laptop power supplies use. I submitted a support ticket asking them to send a proper cable. They seem to be out of stock though, so who knows how long it will take.

        • I also got the wrong cable sent. Lucky I had a spare international power adapter that I used with the original cable and it worked.

        • Yep ditto for me too :)

        • @Remorhaz: Yep - wrong cable too… what a fail ;-(

        • I got a dispatch notice this arvo. They are sending another cable out.

    • I got the wrong cable as well - logged a support ticket

    • Got my replacement cable today. Correct one this time.

  • I only received one cable this Monday…not the machine. And the email from Kogan says "Your item has been delivered!"

    • Yeah I got that too, the machine turned up two days later. The cable was wrong though. So if its a figure 8 cable, tell them now its wrong.

    • Received the machine on Friday… And they seems to be send out on the same day.

      • Did you get the correct power cable with yours?

        • No but I can connect the original cabel to Xiaomi power board so I didn’t bother

      • How are you finding it? Been looking at getting one to reduce airborne dust/pet dander.

I will just share this image to anyone who needs to make a dispute with Kogan.

    • Thanks Coal Fact0R. This should help some people. I sent a email to Kogan and they requested a photo of the wrong cable with all the model numbers etc before they would send me the correct one, so this should save some people some time.
