10% off Travel Insurance @ TID

100
TID0318

Use TID0318 for 10% off Travel Insurance (however this discount doesn't seem to apply to the Excess Reduction amount that adds on to the premium).

Don't forget to book through Cashrewards to get 7.00% cashback (the 7% rate is a limited time promo and will revert back to 4.20%).

NOTE: This coupon (TID0318) is not listed on the Cashrewards site so the cashback may be declined. YMMV.

I found www.insureandgo.com.au much cheaper and you get a discount via the Entertainment Book too…

They were also the ones that paid the most out for rental car excess…

And the "GROUPON20" code still work for 20% off (for insureandgo)

      • Is insureandgo any good as in, good to deal with if something goes wrong?

        • good to deal with if something goes wrong?

I've never had to claim, but they were by far the cheapest for domestic travel.
They also covered more in every category at a cheaper price than any of the others I checked.

        • @jv:

I don't know if the terms for domestic and international are the same but comparing RACV Total Travel Care and InsureandGo gold, RACV has higher payouts in every category compared to InsureandGo, not sure how the price differs but you get 15% off if you're an RACV member.

According to choice.com.au (I don't know how reputable they are or where they get their figures but reddit seems to take them seriously) they have a claim score of 42% which is quite low, compared to RACV at 73%

If you want to read more about the various insurance companies fared:

        • @Lunawinter:

not sure how the price differs

For about 10 days domestic, InsureandGo were around $80 and the other averaged $130. They were also the only one that paid up to $5K excess for rental cars.. The others ranged from $3K-$4K and the vehicle I was hiring was about $4.5K excess…

        • @jv:

Ah yes, I see the domestic cover is very different. As a member it's $102 with RACV and 5k excess, but $120 without, but that's for very basic cover (excess only). $80 is a very good price!

        • @Lunawinter:

they have a claim score of 42% which is quite low,

Your link shows the policy scored 66%, not 42%.

Considering the significant price saving, I'm willing to sacrifice the 5% difference in the the choice score. What is choice's error margin anyway? I'm sure their criteria and methods aren't perfect…

        • @jv: I was quoting the Claim score specifically, not overall score. Was meant to be a response to boomramada's question, but I failed at trying to reply to them!

        • @Lunawinter:

          Thanks for the link,
for me claim score vs price is more important.
          InsureandGo 42%
          TIA 50%

for $200 price difference, InsureandGo is a clear winner :)

    • lol the old myth that travel insurance will cover the entire car, and payout.

      • It's just for the excess. The car hire includes insurance…

        • false. insurance companies will not pay for things that are not included in the cost of the excess. if the roof ,underbody or windscreen are damaged your paying.

        • @assface:

Maybe for you… I choose carefully who i hire from.

  • sorry that promocode is not valid :(

    Then again, I have compare the market, look like TIA is not the cheapest;

    Same trip in different sites;

    https://travel.allianz.com.au/quickquote $590

As a member the highest cover with RACV and $0 excess was cheaper than TID, it was also rated number 1 on choice.com.au! I've always gone with TID but just assumed RACV was super expensive.

      • Thanks for highlighting this. Always go for TID as well due to price. But just bought RACV for my upcoming trip..helped that I am also a member so got the discount

        • No worries at all, glad I could help!

  • Just tried TID0318. wasn't accepted as a valid code :(
