I can't find any reference to Dr Oetker actually having received a doctorate ????

His grandson who inherited the company was a confirmed Nazi, who stole Jewish artefacts/art.

          @gringo: I NEED A DOCTOR INTENSIFIES

      • Perhaps. But can you explain this one for me: Here in Australia we have footcare products by Scholl's. In the US, the brand name is Dr Scholl's. https://www.drscholls.com

I looked it up. The found did have the title Dr. http://www.scholl.com.au/why-scholl/100-years-of-experience/

So we have a pizza product with Dr, but a health-care products that leave the Dr part off.

        • It is only Dr Scholl's in North America.

Everywhere else it is known by Scholl's.

There are different owners for the two brands after the American owner sold the global rights.

        • It used to be Dr. Scholls here.

It is actually super-protected in Germany. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/03…

Many honorary titles are awarded in the field of food, like Harland Sanders. I figure as August invented baking powder he was awarded a dough-ctorate

      • +1

        How about Dr Bombay?

      • +2

I only just found out Colonel Sanders was not actually a colonel.

"The title 'colonel' was honorary - a Kentucky colonel - not the military rank"

        My life, shattered.

If Dr Cat can have a doctorate, I'm sure a fast food maker can cook one up too.

Dr Oetker is raking in the dough. Rising to the top. Earning his crust.

Might need to see a doctor after eating all that pizza.

anyone tried the dessert one? any good???

    • +4

You mean the chocolate one? It's so nice, but it's super rich. I can only eat two slices before I feel sick.

It's basically chocolate chips on chocolate sauce on chocolate bread. It's what I expected though.

      • +2

I found it a bit weak and cheap-tasting - was hoping it'd be like warm Nutella but instead it reminded me of Cottee's chocolate topping.

      anyone tried the dessert one?

I tried the desert one. It was quite dry…

    • I love desserts, icecream, chocolate……but I agree with silverrat23, it is very rich. I like it, but not to eat too much, and not to eat too often.

    • i got real sick of it after eating 2 slices.

really really sickening sweet. not really my cup of tea

i've had dessert pizzas before but yeah this one is extra rich.

  • My wife would not let me buy them when it was in sale at Woolies last week. I might go and buy one and quickly eat it before she comes back from work next week (she works late - Lawyer).

Have you discovered any good deals on a spare pair on OzBargain? Sounds like you might need them..

With Colesworths having $3.75 specials on these pizzas so regularly, is there anyone who buys them at the laughable full price of $7.50?

This is the only brand of frozen pizza in Australia that’s also sold widely in Italia. Must be good.

  • I might give these another try. I had the Spinach one in the past because I could get bonus flybuys points with it. I love Spinach, but I found it very oily. Maybe that's what it's supposed to be like? But I really want to try the pineapple one. Have to spend $60 this week at Coles so might pick up a few.

    • If you're bothered, add your own toppings. We added red onion and sundried tomato to the spinach and tasted good.

Try the pepperoni and pizza speciale. They're really good as well

Have to spend $60 this week at Coles

Is that like part of a criminal sentence for shop lifting or something ???

      • OMG jv, how did you know? You're amazing. /sarcasm.

I'm on my fourth week of spending $60. It's been hard. I usually spend $35-40 a week normally (maybe $35-40 every two weeks). I'm just a single gal and don't spend a lot. So if I can add a few Pizza's and put them in the freezer that would help me in my goal I was saying.

        • I usually top up with bulk washing powder ~$30…

Even single girls wash their clothes, right???

@jv: I have a huge 4KG tub sitting by the machine. I bought it last year. It's still going. Good idea though. Thanks.

Last time I bought Finish tablets (I was close to finishing my huge $20 box from Reject Shop and that helped. I'll be fine. Might grab some cans of Coke or Pepsi. Always need more caffeine!

I can also get a mobile recharge too. That's good about Coles, they still let you include that in the total, unlike Woolworths!

  • So lets be real, this tastes better or dominos?

    • I'd say that these are better than Dominos. Then again, almost ANY pizza is better than Dominos sh!7

I like these $3.50 non frozen pizzas to be pretty decent, just grate some extra cheese on top.

  • Not sure if it's already been mentioned but the meat varieties are made here in Australia, the others are imported in from Germany..

    • Maybe has to do that you can't import meat to Australia?

      • Not sure entirely but it's easy enough to add on to any of the vege options.

  • The new pepperoni piquant one is pretty good. Thanks, will stock up :)

(Never paid full price for these. For $5 they are fairly good, but $3.75 makes them taste even better!)
