  • Hot Deal. Thanks so much. I just purchased two and I know two people who will be very happy. I wonder if it will be delivered before Christmas?

    Thanks for posting

    • Assuming that they do post it tomorrow, there's a high chance it won't make Perth by Friday. As for the East Coast, possibly. But CotD have never been known for their quick postage….

  • +1

I don't think you'll get it in time for christmas.

That's the only bad point from shopping from COTD, because it's such a good site, there's so much traffic to it and people buying stuff, it takes them a long time sometimes to ship things out.

But hey, I haven't bought something for a while from them, they may have expanded staff wise?

    • +1

It does say on the page "Beat the Boxing Day rush and get your bargains right here. Avoid the pushing and shoving and checkout queues and save yourself a MASSIVE $100" That would suggest they aren't planning on shipping these until AFTER christmas.

The original of these was my first lego purchase about 25 years ago. It was awesome. I plan on giving it to my boy maybe for his 4th bday.

  • +1

Yeah, its a good deal, but you won't get this in time for xmas, no way.

I got this set for my eldest 2 years ago for $80 from kmart, its a pretty good set, good variety of blocks.

  • If I recall they are Melbourne based like myself so if they get it out of their warehouse by Wednesday I might be in with a chance.

    • +5

I'm just up the road from them, the fastest I've ever got something from them was 10 days.

      • same for me and im within 3km

  • havent played lego is years!!!!!!!! brings back good memories hahah

  • my son only 2 years old, otherwise i will buy this.

I bought this for mine when he was 2.5yo, and he still plays with it a 4.5yo. It depends on the kid though, and if you have enough spare time and patience to help them, cause at that age you have to do all the building (and repairs) yourself, otherwise they can get too frustrated.

He's really good at it now though, he loves making "modifications".

You could always buy it for next xmas, at least it should arrive in time then.

i think the concern lies with the fact that this lego set has small bits and pieces with could be potentially hazardous/dangerous when a 2y.o infant might swallow them.
other than that, i'm sure they would be able to slowly be able to put the pieces together.

Lego suggest 8+ for age group (I guess that's what the 8-14 on the box means)

        • +3

Like I said, it all depends on the kid.

When they stop putting stuff other than food into their mouths you should be good to go, but YMMV. You know your kids better than anyone.

Age ratings are just an arse covering exercise (which unfortunately is needed these days). If you only ever went by manufacturers age ratings, your kids would have zero toys until they were 3+.

        • +2

I thought 8-14 on the box meant how many pieces were in the box.

Maybe my parents were just tight and only bought me the small sets

  • i would recommend getting a couple of these and trying to flog a few on ebay, could easily undercut the existing sellers as long as you dont get too greedy with your own profit margin

  • Great posting Subwoofer!!! well done. Ordered one :-)

  • awesome…. great deal…. picked up 2 for pressies :)

  • thanks 4 the post

  • great post - just got one for free!

    • For free ????

      • called my mum - happened to tell her about the deal and before i could finish the sentence she said wanted to buy one for our son…
not that i advocate "taking advantage" of one's children - but one should never underestimate their role in securing a good deal
(though i should be careful - she looks at ozbargain from time to time)

        • +2

Does she want another son ???

  • Thank you just bought one!!

  • +6

Thanks! Just bought one for myself…ummm, I mean my 4 yo son…

  • Thanks for the tip just bought 3 of them, hoping to sell the other 2 to pay for the 3rd.

  • +2

Well I now expect a crapload of these selling on eBay for between 60 to 100 and several unsold completed listings in the $120+ zone.

As an AFOL (Adult Fan Of Lego), these sets have been pretty heavily discounted on-off for awhile, I remembered them going for $75 at some stage at lowest. But still decent set, bought one for parts.

  • Is this made in China?

    • Surprisingly, no.

The majority of Lego sets are moulded in Hungary, Denmark and the Czech Republic.

IIRC, a limited portion of very specific components, typically Lego sets with electrical parts, are made in China.

      Yes, I do like Lego.

    • The lego minifigure collections are made in China. The quality of it isnt as good. But Lego is cool!

  • Thanks guys for sharing this getting one to stash away for the young fella

  • Got one now all gone.. Looks like COTD has got good stock level this time..

  • SOLD OUT!

  • +1

missed out, but still a good deal

  • I missed out too… :(

sent my Mrs around to pick one up. The guy was in the office looking at her as she knockled on the door and he wouldn't get up and speak with her. Just shook his head …

If that's the customer service at the sales end of things … imagine how good it'll be on a return!!!

    • around where… i didnt know COTD has pickup??

    • wait, you went to buy something from a distribution centre that doesn't allow pickups? oh course they're going to keep the door locked.

      • +2

Lol, so many hypotheticals to visualize

  • Theme doesn't have much of a collectors value. Look for Star Wars, Harry Potter, Technic, Creator series
