Brand New HP Laptop Freezing/Crashing/Blue Screen in Windows 10

Two days ago I purchased this HP laptop from Bing Lee. It was going well for the first 10 minutes of use then the screen started to blink and the computer froze then crashed then blue screened.

After restarting this kept happening every 10 minutes. I tried updating the suggested updates from the HP software and it kind of worked for about 30 mins to 1 hour. However, the crashing and blue screen kept happening the day after and today as well. I don't know if it's a software issue or if I need to change the settings.

Can anyone help please?
Thanks

    Get it replaced.

As above, take it back where you bought it and complain, come back here if you don't get a satisfactory solution

Sounds like a hardware issue, even if its not just return it as it should just work straight out of the box.

  • AS above … but also have a look here https://www.askwoody.com/

There are so many issues with recent hard/software vulnerabilities and Win 10 and updates/grades on various hard/software the best advice I got is to wait till it's all sorted to buy new hardware.

  • Take it back. Dont try to fix it.
It is the sellers responsibility to sort it out so dont go looking for solutions yourself.

Check the Event Viewer, it usually gives you a good indication of the problem. Also load in safe mode to check it’s not driver issues.

    • it runs okay in normal mode but when i tried safe mode it took minutes to just move a mouse and was heaps worse on safe mode

      • As others have said, don't try fix it yourself. It's a new machine and shouldn't have an issue at all.

Just bring it back and if you must have one get a replacement, or just get a refund and see what people here are buying and follow the crowd.

        • My advice is to do general troubleshooting first. Why go to all the trouble of a replacement if it's just an outdated driver.

  • Try a live linux distro
    can be booted from usb

It may narrow down the causes if it doesn't reboot / flash

  • If you have installed any software or hardware, you should check first whether that is causing a compatibility issue (even a mouse can cause issues, never mind if they worked fine with a previous computer), or you may be wasting your time and effort returning it especially if you purchased online.

    It sounds like it's likely to be a hardware issue. In any case, you would be well within your rights to return it according to consumer law you should be able to return and replace on the spot with a brand new unit (what you have may be a returned unit already);
However if you had purchased a customized build or on sale you may still run into issues with the retailer.
