Okay, so, we were waiting all week to try these tonight. My wife and I were mentioning it several times throughout the week.
Let me tell you- DO NOT BOTHER!!!!! They are a terrible NY pizza, and are NO better than usual except they are 3.5 times more expensive for, as an example, a basic pepperoni. The NY pizzas are $17.95 and a basic pepperoni pizza is $5. Yes, of course they are much bigger, but there is no damn way a one topping pizza, regardless of size, is worth $17.95. They have something called a "Three Meats NY", which is pepperoni, ground beef, and Italian sausage, but it's STILL not worth $17.95. It's a cheap-ass pizza but just bigger. I would happily pay $17.95 if they came loaded with toppings - a supreme or BBQ meatlovers, for example - but it's basically just their $5 range toppings for a ridiculous amount of money because it happens to be a bigger base.
My local un-franchised pizza joint has pizzas for $18-$22. They're absolutely enormous and are so heavy with toppings that you sort of feel like you haven't given them ENOUGH money for your pizza.

I've never been to New York. But my idea of a NY pizza is definitely not what Domino's are producing. Try some proper stretchy mozzarella and actual large-sliced pepperoni, for starters. Don't give me what you're putting on your $5 pizzas with a bigger base. Tonight, I felt like I was given two $5 pepperoni pizzas but charged four times as much. If you want to stuff yourself with pepperoni then buy yourself two $5 pizzas and have a good old pig out and only feel remorse from the amount of food, not the amount that was taken from your wallet.

sadly what you say is true.

The base is slightly different but again not worth the price difference.

Thanks for this, nearly ordered one thinking it was a giant pizza loaded with toppings.

Not going to disagree with your assessment, but I'm not sure what your idea of an NY pizza is, it's not like a Chicago-style pizza that is loaded with toppings, the slices are big in size but they're still quite thin and simple - I mean have a look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York-style_pizza, often it doesn't have any toppings other than tomato sauce and cheese, and even the example of a pepperoni slice there just looks like normal sized pepperoni. So can't really fault them for you having a different idea of what that style of pizza is. That said, 100% agree it would be better just to buy a couple of the $5 pizzas, no way is it worth $18 from Dominos

      • Are you using Wikipedia to counterpoint his argument? Not that it invalidates your point of toppings but the size difference/price/quality of an actual NY pizza vastly different.
I was lucky enough to spent the last 3 summers on Long Island, NY and the pizza there was incredible. A regular slice (cheese) is half the size of a FULL regular dominoes pizza and cost $2.50usd. My go to slice was a buffalo chicken slice which is the same size for $4.50 and had the equivalent of a 250g chicken breast on it. So this guy is 100% right about dominoes just cashing in on the same for minimal extra effort

        • Well yes and no, I've spent a bit of time in NYC and have my own idea of what an NY-style pizza is, but I wouldn't consider my own personal experience authoritative since I only spent a few weeks there, and there's no substitute for a photo. But the point is I don't think it's legitimate to complain that it wasn't loaded with toppings, when that's simply not typical of that style of pizza. That's a separate question to whether the size/price/quality is up to scratch though, and of course Dominos fails on all those counts

Better off getting 3 x thin and crispy pepperoni for 3 x $5. More like pizzas in NYC too

The internet taught me I should probably expect about 7 inches if someone says it's 16`.

Buy a pizza stone. Learn good dough technique. Make a bitchin sauce. Buy a few toppings. Invest in good cheese.

Homemade pizza is so satisfying if you nail it, and much cheaper too!
