if that including 15% off of the Mac Air

  • -1

i get bigger discounts from jb just from haggling… i doubt they will take a further discount off the haggled price… :S

    • +3

Haha yeah. I remember reading some guy on the forums got a camera deal from the sale. I got a much better price from haggling just last week!

      • +1

the camera i just bought last week from elsewhere for $383 retails for $499…

15% off at JB would make it $424
JB offered $400 as their best price… (much better than 15% advertised above)

I ended up getting it from Michaels a few doors down for $383…

        • Haggling works best (except for Apple though I've seen iPods discounted a fair bit more than usual).

Employee punches price into handheld PC and claims they are selling below cost/at cost/$5 above cost. Hahah.

The trick is to avoid buying any accessories. JB will give you a discount but then ask you to buy accessories which you can get for a fraction of the cost of on ebay.

  • haha another sale. good to get some blurays for gifts as they are very cheap some of them under $10 with the sale.

    • +1

Just make sure you go to the web site and check out the 2 for $20 blu-rays and write down the titles you want. As with last sale some were destickered at normal $12.95. Makes it easier to look for the title rather than the 2 for $20 stickers. As they are not always on the spine of the blu-rays

  • -1

does that include their current instore prices? or will they say not on the existing prices? or even worse make up their prices tomorrow like myer did for their weekend 15% off electrical sale.

    • +1

myer doesnt mark up their prices

their sales are "not in conjunction with any other offer" and it's clearly stated. So they put up the prices which the sale deals are valid for to be marked down from. They will put up prices that are the best deal for u, so if a current deal is better than say a 1 day 15% off sale, then they will leave that ticketed item there. but if a current sale price is less savings than what u will get from a 1 day sale, then they will put up the original price, so after discounts you save more.

if ppl whinge about businesses double dipping, they shudnt expect to double dip in discounts themselves

  • damn i just bought a blu ray player!

    • +1

It doesn't look like the discount is on players. It wasn't there on the last sale a week or two ago, they said no players were included. So relax ;-)

  • yup, time for bookshelf speakers! Which ones are good at JB?

  • +1

damnit… I just bought a bunch of games as gifts yesterday afternoon. Do you think I can return them and buy them back on the day to get the discount?

    • +2

Yes, if they are unopened, you can return them for store credit.

  • +2

I'm looking to buy AVATAR 3D on blueray,, I know its out because Panasonic are giving it away as a freebee promo with home sound system anyone know if JB will have some copies for sale?

  • Does this include iPod/iPhone speakers?

    • I'd say it would apply, just as long as they weren't made by Apple

  • I had a look but couldn't see if this would be running online as well. I know one last year ran online as well, but I can't see if this one will?

  • wow same deal as family and friends.. i wonder if u can haggle the prices. cause the other nite that the deal was on i couldnt get them to budge at all..

  • waiting for more discounts or look online

  • +1

Hmm… I might decide to buy a laptop :/ but still unsure if I should wait for Sandy Bridge (since I've got up to the end of January to decide).

The 15% off sure seems enticing. ($600 Budget)

    What do you think?

    • Buy now if you can get a laptop with a Mobility Radeon HD5650, HD5730, GeForce GT 435M or better. ( upper Class 2 videocard ) for under $600 Otherwise keep waiting!
      http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Mobility-Radeon-HD-5730.238…

You wont get a laptop with a Sandy Bridge i3, i5 or i7 in it for $600 until all the old stock clear's out first, The end of Jan may not be enough time.

But as with all things PC' the longer you wait the cheaper things get, Aussie Dollar also plays into that too. :) you could get a better deals on NON Sandy Bridge laptops when Sandy Bridge comes out due to retail trying to clear old stock. i wouldnt rush into anything just for a sale As you can haggle 15% off at JB anyways.

  • Also, how many 15% off (computer) sales do JB-HiFi do a year?

    • Odds are they will have another one in January for new year stock take sales. This is like the therd Late night %15 off sale in the past few months :)~

  • good thing I looked on ozbargain before I headed in to JB, I'll guess I'll go in tomorrow then

    • Lucky you, i didn't and just spent $70 there. Haven't got the time to refund and go back tomorrow night.

  • Bargain depending on what you buy…

eg. for TVs, it's a bargain if you're not willing to haggle. We picked up a Panasonic P50VT20A for $1775… but it was (and probably still is) ticketed at $2296. So after 15% off, you'll still be paying $1951.60.

I actually asked a salesman about this sale on Saturday and he said he hadn't heard of it or being told about it.

    • did u haggle, and how

      • +1

Asked for a pricematch to a price that I got from a whirlpool thread, and they agreed!

      • +1

Here's what you have to say:

"Darling fascist bully boy, give me a discount, you bastard. May the seed of your loin be fruitful in the belly of your woman, Neil."

        • Pos for young ones reference. Love people nagging just cos they don't understand the reference.

  • That means I could get the Yamaha YHT-294 for $425 which is probably the cheapest to get this anywhere by a long shot

    • Is that the pack? I think it only includes stand alone speakers or receivers.

      • Yes it's the pack. I figured that since speakers and receivers receive the discount they should be able to do packs as well.

Interestingly the ticketed price at Chatswood is $598 and at World square it is $532

  • I wonder if the WDTV Live comes under computers? I need to pick up 2 of them.

  • any idea how the games work?

I wanted to pick up dance central for a present.
    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/xbox-360/dance-central-x…

It says $59 on that link. Will it be 20% off $59 or off the rrp?

    • 20% off games

      • yes but is it 20% off the $59 shown at the link or will they say it is of some increased rrp?

        • Should be 20% off whatever it's stickered in store - ie. 20% further off sale price, if something is already on sale. That's been my experience anyway.

        • Yeah 20% off ticketed price, but keep in mind jbhifionline.com.au often has different prices to actual in store prices and they wont match them

        • not online, instore only. Off the price sticker on the product.

        • Any place to find the instore price other than going instore?

        • Call up perhaps

  • Anyone know if we can use the 20% off games on preorders? I can't find anything about it and I wanna get Dead Space 2 collectors edition.

  • I saw Dragon Age Origins on PC for $20 so it will be $16 with the discount. I should have taken a photo of the sticker the other day because if they bump up the price I'm gonna RAGE!

  • OMG it would've helped if I read this properly at the start. I went down to my local JB tonight and found a couple of things I was after only to find out that it's tomorrow night the sale is on…LOL Looks like I'm back there tomorrow night

  • this includes blu ray like last time?

  • Wait so can I get a discount off an Ipod Touch 8gb? It only mentions that Apple computers are excluded. What category does an Ipod fall under..?

    • None of these categories

  • I just bought a Compaq Presario notebook for $478.00 today. Does this mean that tomorrow it will be $406.30 with the 15% discount?? NOT HAPPY.

    • mate I was in the same boat when the last 15% off sale happened on the 8th. Although I did get that model for $460!

    • If you haven't opened the box yet, you can return it and buy it again.!

    • Why? You obviously thought it was a good deal when you got it. You were happy to pay that amount and you got what you wanted at the price you agreed to.

And anyway, they will give you the difference back if you go in a ask nicely.

  • if i were to buy 2 blu-rays for $20 then would the 20% apply, making the final price for the two blu-rays $16?

    • +2

Yes same as previous sale 2 for $16. As I said earlier remember to check the 2 for $20 on JBs web site and write down the titles you want. As some of the titles were destickered at previous sale. And its easier to find the titles than the 2 for $20 stickers on the shelf

      • yep i read your post before, thanks for the advice !
gonna go score me some blu-rays

  • Does anyone know if they do interest free with these sort of promotions ?

  • I always haggle with the sales reps at JB and manage to get off around 20%. Don’t be afraid to offer them a lower price then what is advertised!

  • Anyone know if HDMI cables and powerboards will be discounted?

    • To answer my own question - no accessories are not on sale.

IMO the only things worth buying are games/dvd/bluray. Everything else you should be able to get more than 15% without much trouble. Picked up Inception which is still on sale at $25 for $20.

  • Scored;

    God Of War Collection: PS3
    Saving Private Ryan
    Rocky IV
    The Notebook *ahem

    $65.59c

  • just got harry potter: the blood prince and twilight eclipse for gifts. stupid westfield gift card didnt work so had to pay cash. got $6 off or something which is ok i guess. nothing that i wanted..

I wanted The Town on bluray and it hasn't even come out yet in Australia which is bloody stupid since it came out a few weeks ago in USA.

    • The Westfield cards tend to only be accepted in the smaller stores :(

      • nah they accept the card but it wouldn't work. The system didn't acept it properly.. went to concierge and said it should be fine. so its a problem on JB's end. Also they didn't apply the 20% off correctly and i had to go back to refund the difference. guy was chugging down the red bulls so probably a bit jittery and not concentrating properly.

  • Had to convince the sales person to give me 2 blueray for $20 since they were on the web site, but one was already $10 and the other $12.95 since they weren't marked 2 for $20.

    • I had same problem with a 2 for $30 blu ray the other day. They made a fuss, & the salesperson actually said "the wesite is operated by another company". But then they checked the website & I got it (begrudingly…). Still, I'd like to find a clear statement somewhere on jb hifis policy re online & instore prices, as I usually find the specials on the website are running in-store too. So why the fuss when I asked…

  • Ayyone got good prices on Plasma or LCD, let us know, my oldies are in the market for a 42" to 50", so I'd like a reference point, cheers!
