What Is Your Favourite Espresso Beans?

Hey! I recently got a Breville Barista Touch and am struggling getting a good extraction from my beans. It's not the grind size or tamp pressure as I've even tried the lowest grind setting and the hardest tamp pressure as a test. Liquid flows out too fast.

What are your favourite beans? For both extraction and taste :)

Edit: I'm currently using some Vittoria beans

  • Ona's Raspberry Candy. Thank me later.

    • Ooooh looks fancy :) Might give it a go

  • What's your grinder? Sounds like it's not grinding fine enough.

    • It's the built in grinder on the machine. I thought that too but there are plenty youtube videos with the same machine getting good extraction. I think it's the old vittoria beans I'm currently using.

      • Ah, apologies, didn't know there was an inbuilt one. Unless you're using real terrible beans the difference shouldn't be huge. Whats your dosage like? Single or double basket?

        • No worries. Double, but I've used both single and double (single it just pisses out).

        • Damn. Well hopefully you hear from other barista touch users. Unless your beans are REAL stale you'll probably have trouble with a lot of coffee beans.

http://codeblackcoffee.com.au try to use fresh beans. nothing over 3 weeks from roast date is best.

  • I got some Colombia Popayan Reserve from the below deal. - really smooth has sky rocketed to one of my favourite coffee beans.

I also like sensory lab - stead fast.

  • Jasper Coffee Honduras Copan Ruins or the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe
A bit on the pricey side but worth the flavour profile

    Nescafe blend 43

  • You can't buy good coffee in a supermarket.

ThreeThousandThieves, among other companies, will send you coffee from a different roaster each month. Although ThreeThousandThieves takes great care (and always tastes amazing), the beans can lose flavour if they're exposed to low air pressures (ie. in a plane). So try to use a local roaster.

Since you're in Sydney I would recommend Coffee Alchemy in Marrickville. There's lots of other great coffee in Marrickville but this one stands out.

    • Thanks for the recommendations! Might check the place out in Marrickville

      • Check out Beanhunter or download the app to search for your nearest roaster.

  • Colombian Double Roasted.

  • aldi medium roast

  • Primo Numero Uno
