$1/Mo Discounted Australian Website and Email Hosting @ Goplex

00

GoPlex currently is giving away Australian website and email hosting for just $1/mo (and no, the price doesn't go up after the first month). The sale could be for a limited time only and are accepting transfers from other providers at that same $1 price. The amount of data isn't massive, but is more than enough for a small to medium businesses - if you're looking for more space, they have more plans starting at $2.99/mo. I can imagine being worried about why it's so cheap, but GoPlex has a 30-day money-back guarantee and 24-hour Sydney-based support!

  • (and no, the price doesn't go up after the first month)

    When does it go up?

    • The plan is for 12 months - so it is guaranteed the price will not change for the next 12 months. We're planning to keep similar prices though - so shouldn't be any more than $3/mo after the first year.

        $3/mo after the first year.

        300% price increase !!!!

        • I can understand that may seem a lot! But I can assure you that this is in-line with many of our Australian competitors. I should also mention, the $2.99 Growth plan which comes with 10GB of storage is the base price. We have no plans to increase the price of this plan and so if 200MB is not enough, this Growth plan would work best for you.

        • one email address and 3 domains ….. doesn’t seem right …. you can nornally host lost of emails addresses , actually unlimited if you have enough storage in a domain … eg sale @, contaact@ , fred@ ….etc.

zuver ar $3 p/m intro was $1.50 so you in the the right bracket for shared server for subscription … then it’s down to service not price at this end of the market.

might give it a go to see what it is like.

problem i’ve found with some providers is their IPs for out going mail ate black listed because they hosted spammers …they should monitor what people send out (quotas) and places like spam house incase their customers are spamming.

        • @garage sale: As mentioned, we have 24-hour telephone support based in Sydney at no extra cost.. We also offer free website transfers from your current provider. if for whatever reason you're not happy within 30-days, you get your money back.

I can totally understand the problems you've found with other hosting providers. As our commitment to customer service, we get to know each and every customer to build a level of trust - and has worked well thus far. :)

      200MB of Shared Storage

      Enough to store 20-30 photos…

      • Why so low res?

        • I'm saving up for a new camera.

      • We find that most startups and small to medium businesses only really take up 100MB on average! But it really depends on who you are and what your needs may be. As mentioned above, we have a plan for $2.99 that includes 10GB of storage.

        • yep. most SMBs just have static pages and mail accounts for their employees and queries …eg fred’s plumbing, teds car detailing …. simple sites, not much space , a few email accounts.

      • zuver is 10gb for $1.50more then enough for most SMBs to have their brand on the internet.

        • That's correct, Zuver gives 10GB for $3/mo .. we also give the same amount for $2.99 plus our 24-hour telephone support, free assisted website transfer and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Our servers are also based in Sydney, as same with Zuver. That is on our Growth plan.

  • Wouldn't need an ABN or anything like that for this would I? I'm just a student who does a bit of web developing here and there. And don't have reliable or fast internet at home to host one.
And one more question would I be required to purchase a domain seperately or can I just not have an actual domain name?

    • Good question. No ABN is required - only for .***.au domains - not for hosting/other domain types. You are not required to purchase a domain, but this just would mean your website won't be accessible to the outside world - you will only be able to access the cPanel - which may work, depending on your needs. To do so, just select 'I will use my existing domain and update my nameservers' and put in whatever domain you like (for this part, I'd recommend choosing a domain that you might buy later, so then we can easily tie that in with your $1 hosting.) Otherwise, you are free to transfer in, or create a new domain if you wish

    • only need ABN for .com.au domain ….. it’s to ensure if you have business name eg fred’s tyres that you can also get the domain fredstyres.com.au without someone taking it and selling it back to you .

.com you don’t need an abn so you could grab fredstyres.com as its assumed the business is overseas.

these sorts of deals are great for home or small business users as it’s cheaper than the associated power bill of running a server from home and the noise, and although they are usually shared servers, they still perform fine. it’s easy enough to move suppliers if not happy as long as you own the domain and control the DNS.

at least get a .com for a name you might use in the future as a .com.au .. serious businesses usually want both the .com and .com.au incase people type it wrong and get to a competitors site … eg you own fredstyres.com but are actually bobstyres ….

  • I'd probably look at taking this offer up if it wasn't for the 12-month price hike. It might only be a few more dollars, but that means I need to look for an alternative after the first year.

    • Hi Sullie,
I can understand your concern. As for the Starter plan, please keep in mind you are not locked in for the 12-months! If you do decide to leave, we will issue a pro-rated refund.

As for your concerns with having to find an alternative after the first year - we have our also great value 'Growth' plan. The idea for the Starter plan was for SMEs and startups that don't use much data initially. Our goal is to allow smaller, low-budget businesses to grow, and if they begin to experience greater demand, there is another plan suitable for them - the Growth plan (to which, you are free to upgrade to at any time). The Growth plan comes with 10GB of data and is just $2.99 - with this plan, you are able to pay either month-by-month or for the whole 12-months. This price of $2.99 is also our base price - we have no plans to increase this price.

      Thank you :)

    • i used to be with godaddy who had a $1 pm deal and i signed up for 12mths …. after 12 mths renewal was $30 pm so i moved to zuver who are normally $3 pm but had deal for $1.50 pm …. repointed the DNS and moved.

i wouldn’t move for $1.50 vs $3 pm increase as my time is worth too much but it’s easy to do if supplier ups it too much, like godaggy did hoping i was lazy or just auto paid invoices.

these month by month deals are low risk … it’s less than the cost of a cup of coffee and you can test out a new provider if you have a static web site and run also runs the associated emails.

it’s trickier for people running online shopping sites to change providers as the risk of it (DNS and certs on server) not working means you loose money until it’s fixed …. but they also don’t use $3 pm plans

  • Update - we now offer a month-to-month subscription for just $1.90/mo. Thanks for your feedback!
