[TAS] Free: CablePI Power Alarm (Detects power issues incl. Broken Neutrals) @ Tasnetworks

140

No this isn't something for your Raspberry Pi.

What this does is detects a potentially life-threatening electrical fault known as a broken neutral. It offers a potential solution to a problem that has challenged the electricity industry worldwide for decades. All you do is plug it into a power outlet and if it detects a fault will sound an alarm and turn red for an emergency and amber for high/low voltage.

CablePI is free to Tasmanian residential and small businesses customers.

  • Hopefully they are better than last time.

    • Considering it's been over 2 years…. yes.

    • cause the issue that way it can detect it, easiest way

  • I think they give these out to Tasmanians because they stick their fingers in the sockets to see if the power is on.

      Forks* because fingers don't fit.

  • A bit too late for me, recently had power fluctuations (lights flickering like crazy) which fried some of the appliances. Called the electricity company which they fixed for free. They showed a copper cable inside the underground lines (green box) which was burnt.

  • From a bit of reading my understanding is that this is for detecting broken neutral faults in the supply network, not inside your house. I presume that in a network broken neutral fault situation the current can / will flow back through the ground and potentially result in a ground voltage rise.

Think this is what happened in this poor girls accident …
