I'm looking at purchasing a MY14 Subaru Impreza. At the moment models up until 2013 are on the Takata recall list. Is there any way of finding which airbags are fitted in the 2014 model and if they will be part of recall lists in future?

The fault does not develop immediately. It's the result of a component degrading in a dangerous way.
The recall pulls all cars that are potentially faulty and not necessarily those that already are.
Call a Subaru dealer and ask them if the recall has been done or not. You will need to know the VIN. They may even know who the current manufacturer is for these airbags. And there is no way of telling if something will be recalled until some5ing happens. Unless you have a crystal ball…

I have checked the VIN and is not on the current recall list. However, in general they are not recalling models less than six years old because the risk of problems occurring before six years is small. I would like to know if the same model airbag is used in the 2014 models, in which case it would be reasonable to assume they will be recalled on future. I will try the Subaru dealership, thank you.

I've got a '14 Outlander and am wondering the same thing. I'm hopeful that at least the newer bags are meant to be less likely to explode/send sharps however the correct way of saying it is.
Yuo need to buy a 1991 model. No airbag problems.
You will have to wait until 2021 then they will tell you. Just like the latest batch have also been told well after we thought it had been resolved
