Armrest for Driver Window Side?

Hi all, doing a lot of long distance driving recently, and my right arm hurts after long hours driving. Just wondering is there an armrest I could buy that would allow me to rest my right arm while holding the wheel? Thanks.

P/S the car is subaru forester x 2011

I guess driverless cars can't come soon enough for this poor chap…

    • Amen to that!

  • No.

    The window sill?

  • It is illegal to have any part of the body protruding from the vehicle.

One can rest a limb on the window sill without that limb hanging outside.

How do you stay inside a motorcycle?

More to the point, where’s your steering wheel?

    • Did I mention arm protruding out?

Just need something that would fit into side door handle?

    • Not arguing with your post but pointing out my view

I always argued that the limb arm etc cannot protrude past the furthest point of bodywork or mirrors, look at it your mirror on a modern car sticks out further than an arm resting on sill hence mirror gets hit before you do

Has worked for me several times no fine

and the two hands on the wheel at all time is BS its impossible to change gears in a manual keeping 2 hands on the wheel the law is flawed and you can't be charged for changing gears or activating you blinker

  • Both hands on the wheel!!!

Don't keep your forearm horizontal. It doesn't allow you to turn properly if there's an emergency.

An emergency that may cause the driver to swerve?

      • Crazy drunk man on the road

      Both hands on the wheel!!!

Many modern vehicles have center console and door arm rest that allow drivers to both rest and keep their hands on the steering wheel.

Take breaks more often on long drives. Get out and stretch.

    • It's only 2 hours drive, so I don't really get sleepy anyway..

Not talking about being sleepy, I'm talking about circulation. If your arm is getting tired in a 2hr trip, there may be other issues at play here, not just something a "arm holder" would fix. Maybe try moving a bit closer to the wheel instead of having your arms straight. Put some bend in them to ease the strain.

Go see a physio and get some exercises to do that may help alleviate the tired arm. Strengthen the shoulder and upper arm muscles.

I drive trucks for up to 5hrs at a stint, so when you said "long drives" I thought you meant "long".

  • What sort of car do you have?

    • Forster 2011

      • Ah yes, the Forster 2011, came out just after the 2010.

      • Maybe something like this - https://snaprest.com

        • Yep, saw that fro googling, but thought it's faster to get from brick and mortar shop.

Also, it's American made, so left side only, plus I don't think they make one for forester

        • @Droid11:

Bit of MDF, foam, glue, vinyl and some imagination and you could build it yourself…

  • Pillow

    • Actually this could work lol, but just felt too bulky lol.. Maybe I should just find a small pillow eh

I looked up the interior of the car wondering how the hell they forgot to include an armrest on the door like every other car! Alas, it does have one so I'm a little confused.
