Where to get rid of old PC games?

I like probably many others used to keep my PC games in boxes…

Needed the storage space, binned the boxes and put all the CD's in a folder

Now want the folder gone…

They are games I look at, youtube them and go 'Man times moved on…'

What is the best place to get rid of old PC games? Is there some avid collector on OzBargain who wants them? Some charity? My time I prefer to spend doing more productive things, I do need a break now and then so I whack on the latest and greatest, while it's cool to reminisce I really don't want to go to the hassle of installing/uninstalling etc.

Heck? Do I just bin them? Find some young kid who has more power on his $80 Android tablet than my first real PC who wants them? I know I will never play them again

TL;DR Need to get rid of old PC games, best place?

Put a post on Gummy…..some people like to collect those if you are going to chuck them out.

I love playing old PCs games still Civ II, Carrier Command, Elite - Frontier, Pizza Tycoon, Theme Hospital, Total Annihilation and Medieval Total War.

Even though I have them digitally, I still keep the boxed copies.

I just don't want some habib coming around who'll try to flog them at the markets next weekend, I'm over those types!

Rather find someone deserving, I have thought about contacting 'theunderdogs' and asking them

What about if Abdul buys them and flogs them at the markets?

Subject them to a gamer questionaire on the spot.

        Failure to answer = GTFO.

Q1) What is a Zerg Rush?
        a) A sensation you get when your 5.25 floppy disk loads even though it warped a bit in the sun.
        b) A Star Wars battle scene.
        c) A newb strategy.

Q2) What is the password to get into the Pimp's room in LSL1
        a) Yo its Larry
        b) Roses are red.
        c) Sucky Sucky Fi Dorrar.
        d) Ken Sent Me.

        Q3) What is C&C?
        a) A music Factory.
        b) A method of authentication.
        c) An RTS.

        • I dont know the second 1 :( Whats LSL1?

        • @mavis30551: Leisure suit larry, a classic "adventure" game.

Happy to Broden the whole lot.

I'm afraid that you'll post up photos of them a week later full of bite marks though

overclockers.com.au there is alot of big game collectors

  • Vinnies or the tip, (or me :D) if you want to get rid of them.
Gumtree or classifieds if you want to sell them.

I chucked all the boxes from mine anyway, still have the cds and their cases.

  • I'm tempted to buy some paper sleeves, drop a post in the classifieds section and allow ozbargainers to grab a game each if they want

I'd post them out (but wouldn't say no to a donation of a dollar or two to cover postage) for nothing as well

    Tempting…

Post on the Melbourne reddit page. There’s someone with a partner who does work with shelters. I’m sure they’d take them

  • That's a nice TL;DR thank you.

    Maybe cashies or Pawn shops?

They sometimes have old consoles in there

  • Is there some avid collector on OzBargain who wants them?

That would be me! What kind of condition do you keep them in? Original big boxed? How old? Shoot me a PM if you have a list of games :)

    • They are just the discs themselves with the cd key torn out of the manual. All incredibly scratch free/mint discs. Some pretty good classics in there. Threw the boxes out years ago for space

      • That's how it usually goes. Even the discs on them own can be good depending on what games they are.

  • Hold onto those bad boys, they’ll be worth a fortune in 500 years time. I mean why be normal and bin them like everyone else?

  • Got a list?

    • If I did want to get rid of them, I'd probably give one to each ozbargainer (would be a classifieds post). Completely undecided yet.

  • If some of the games need installation code. Hopefully you still have them otherwise the game disc would be useless.

    • Not really… if someone can find/buy a code

  • As other said a list would probably be useful. I am sure you could sell them on Gumtree or overclockers, especially if you are not in a big rush.

  • Probably the worst thing possible to bin the box's (especially if they're the big box games of the 90's and earlier) as collectors will pay top dollar for those.

    • Usually only fully boxed games. If The OP didn't keep the boxes and manuals etc then there not worth much.

    • I know these guys, because I don't have the boxes…
