I'm looking to upgrade my HP MicroServer Gen8 from the Celeron G1610T.

What do you mean by
missing pad? Thermal pad? They say they are shipping thermal paste though.How long did it take for your CPUs to arrive on average? A month? Less or more?

the pad is that gold contact that touches CPU pin on the sockets, can be a cause for concern if the missing contact is responsible for data transfer.
On the bottom of the CPU are 1155 gold pads. These pads make contact with the pins on the motherboard socket.
One of the pads on my CPU had been scratched off. The shipping method was a plastic container wrapped in bubble wrap, so the damage must have been before it was shipped. That got me nervous at first but I checked a "socket map" and that particular pad was one of the 100 or so voltage supplies. You can lose a few of those without any problem. But some other pads are more important - lose even a single data pad or address pad and the CPU is dead.
Took just about 1 month to arrive.
Ah you're talking about pins. Yes, they aren't pins anymore, but sure.
I've never had to exercise Paypal buyer's protection yet, I wonder how smooth it is if there is a need.

I've bought three Xeon 1265Lv2 from aliexpress. All three have worked fine with stock cooler in HP Microserver Gen8.

These are second hand, not brand new. One of mine had a missing pad (!) and I was sure it wouldn't work but it was just one Vcc pad (out of dozens) so it worked fine. The seller promises they're all tested before shipping and I paid with paypal, so could reverse charges if didn't work. But it worked out OK.
