  • Wow. That RRP tho

    • It's a pretty ballsy price for a phone that runs a Snapdragon 630. Not that far off from say, a One Plus 5T with a SD835.

      • Nokia 8 with SD835 can be bought for about $500.

    What is the verdict from the existing users in terms of performance, battery, storage etc etc…

    I am looking for an new phone and i am in the market thought would be a bargain but only if phone is any good…

      I got a G5 plus and would be hesitant to get another Motarola. While it's an excellent phone and I'm happy with the way everything works out of the box. Motorola/Lenovo is slow as balls with the updates, like they are basically non-existent.

        If it's going ok why the need to update? I thought only apple does frequent updates to slow your phone down :P

        • System updates exist to address security flaws and introduce new features. I wouldn't want to have to buy a new device to experience new software, especially if these software features don't require new hardware.

          @albert0pia:

          Wife's G5 plus is on 7.0 but with January 2018 security patch level. Battery life is great. I might go for a 6 series CPU next. My oneplus 3 only just makes it through the day.

  • Does this come with dual sim or is that only on the overseas model?

  • My wife's Moto G3 was a nightmare. Screen eventually cracked. But there was a problem where the speaker would go dead. Apparently internal speaker contacts are just spring prongs that sit against the phone so over time they'd lose their spring and no longer make contact. Known problem that others had. We sent it in twice and then it was out of warranty. A phone that doesn't ring is a piece of crap.

  • I've got a Moto X Force (older generation of this range) and have found it to be a stable, reliable phone that takes a bit of abuse, over the year or so that I've had it. Battery life is more than enough to last out the day at work, even for someone in a crappy coverage area like I am.

    My only gripe with it is that the screen was supposed to be indestructible and eliminate the need for a good screen protector. FALSE. The screen has not cracked, but the outer layer of the screen, which is some sort of thick plastic, has been dented in a few places by traveling next to a big set of keys and many drops (yes, I drop my phone… that's why I got one that takes abuse, OK?), and this dented-ness sometimes affects the touch-screen sensitivity, requiring me to try more than once to do an unlock on the keypad before it works. THEORETICALLY this can be fixed by replacing that top layer. The problem is that no one seems to sell them, and I don't think they're obtainable even from Lenovo any more. :-( So really, my only problem is that I took the over-promise on its word, and did not, as I should have, immediately put on a screen protector when I bought it.

    My last Moto phone, a Defy, went through the washing machine — POWERED ON — and lived to tell the tale, with only the internal non-speakerphone speaker not surviving. The Defy wasn't fast, and because there were 2 models of Defy camera and I had the older one, the last firmware update that I installed effectively temporarily broke my camera functionality after one photo session post power-on (fix: power off and power on again). I used that phone for 4 years (learned to take calls on a headset or via speaker), and only stopped using it when I lost it.

    In contrast, I've had a Samsung phone whose charger charred the surface it was sitting on (and had I not been home to throw it out the patio door, probably would have burnt the house) and LG phones that have barely made it a year before their batteries carked it (no more Samsung's or LG's for me).

    The story may be different under Lenovo, but historically, I've had good luck with Moto phones and would not hesitate to get another the next time I'm in the market.
