My guest checked-in and then stayed the night and cancelled at 4am on the first night. They are still here. I don’t understand the payout if he cancels at 4 am do I get a payout or $0 and how when does he have to check out after cancelling at 4am?

We charge $50 night

It depends on your cancellation policy, but at a minimum they're paying the first night (flexible) or the first night + 50% of remaining nights (moderate).

They would have to check-out by the same time as on any other day.

Don’t give them a refund at all. Unless your house isn’t as described on air bnb.
They probably figured you may not notice and were going to stay.
I remember hearing of people doing this type of thing on Uber. Booking a ride to a destination further than their intended stop and when they get close to where they actually want to be, they cancel the ride, driver stops and kicks them out. Rider then leaves neg feedback and bullshit excuse on why they cancelled.
This sounds like that. The person renting the house wants to get it for free and cancelling at 4am thinking that it won’t get noticed until well into the next morning after they have already left…
Why do people find is 'easier' to ask random strangers, rather than airbnb directly???
Its too hard to talk direct to the source that will know too embarrassing? Don't want to use google to find airbnb link already have Ozbargain in favourites?
