Demand created by OzBargain driving UP prices?

This post just got me thinking: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/363943

The price for this item is certainly not the lowest ever, which begs the question:

Does the demand created by OZbargain for certain items drive up the price?

If true, then OZbargain is achieving exactly the opposite of its intent?

Do companies purposely advertise their products on OZbargain discounted knowing this, only to raise prices later?

I don't think ozbargainers drive up the price… WHY?… because ozbargainers don't pay more for something that they know has been advertised cheaper previously (unles they are desperate).

if anything, ozbargainers set the "new market price" by only paying the lowest price for a product.

    Yup.

First law of marketing - if your item is selling then your price is too low.

Many Chinese sellers automate this, demand goes up and so do the prices. Say hello to capitalism!

Happens a lot with certain YouTube channels (eg Big Clive) as well, who now doesn't directly link to where he got his random bit of Chinese junk, but to a generic search instead.

  • If prices are too high blame the people who pay them.

  • No actually driving prices down as all members are smarter they don't buy straight away anymore but wait untill it pops up ozb at lower prices than previous low.

    (Hopefully)

  • You think to much, just buy buy buy !
