Did you end up getting either of these ones Nikon D3300 or Canon 1300D or Nikon D5200?

Ryda is my usual go to store for oz stock.I'd look in tomorrow's Bing Lee eBay sale. It's currently $600 and would go down to $510 with the 15% off code. Not the best deal ever but not a bad price.
got a D3300 about a year ago. Lots of megapixels for few dollars.
Issues: It is really built to use and post process its raw file. The jpg file is not perfected for end use and may fail to impress. Large chip also means more lens limitations will show. A post processor (there are many) even a free DX Optics pro will turn the shots into good pictures.Technology moving fast, some pro's are now happy going mirrorless some bridge cameras are also worth looking at.
I'd strongly encourage you to look at spending a little bit more and go up to the D5600 kit. I was originally looking at the D3400 a few weeks ago and decided to put extra towards the D5600 for a few reasons:
* The 18-55 lens bundled with Australian D3400 is the non-VR version, but is is the VR version on the D5600 kit. According to most things I've read, you want to steer clear of the non VR lenses if you can.
* D3400 doesn't have a touch screen, so you don't get cool features like touch to focus and touch shutter like you do on the D5600
* D3400 has a fixed LCD screen. D5600 is fully articulated.
* D5600 has better autofocus capability, handy if you're shooting moving subjects
* D5600 includes an external mic jack, which is a major consideration if you're doing any videoing (but if you are, why aren't you going mirrorless, or a canon dslr model with dual pixel autofocus?)
* D5600 includes features like time lapse photos, NFC & wifiFor the little bit extra, for me at least the D5600 was a no-brainer. For reference, during the recent 10% off ebay sale I bought a D5600 kit with the 18-55 VR lens from DWI for around $660 after the discount and cashrewards. I was going to wait till the 20% off sales, but the included sellers had the same kit for around the $1000 mark.
If you buy from Ryda, then you might be better buying through their eBay sales during one of the regular 20% sales and not via their standalone site (IMHO).
I think you've just missed on of the 20% sales but they come around regularly.
Their Ebay site, where you can also pick up a refurbished model is:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Nikon-D3400-BODY-DSLR-Camera-REFU…
I've left a link above to another option which is one of their refurbs which also get the 20% discount during the sales. The D3400 is a great unit and capable camera. I doubt there are "many" shots a D5500/D5600 could take that a D3400 couldn't replicate to a standard that an "untrained" eye could tell the difference between.
When it comes to final image output I don't think many would be disappointed with the D3400.
The money saved from buying the D3400 over the D5600 is better put towards the lenses and I really like the VR versions of the AF-P 18-55mm and AF-P (not AF-S) 70-300mm again in VR version.I like them so much I bought a D500 with which to use them as my D7000 wasn't compatible, this despite owning some much more expensive lenses.
The D3400 is much nicer to carry around for hours at a time than a heavier camera like the D500 and I miss the one I bought for a short time to trial the AF-P lenses.
Bottom line is there appears no big sales on currently so your choices are either wait, buy a refurb or 15% sale at Bing Lee.
I'd be hesitant to buy secondhand at this level if you don't know how to throughly check out a camera and you have the added issue of being sure its not stolen. Before you consider buying a grey import, consider reading about pitfalls talked about in depth in the Whirlpool photography forums.
Type for instance DWI in the search engine to gauge a few opinions and experiences and your chances of recovering your money if something goes wrong: https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/132
There I've attempted to cover a couple of bases.
Nah Ryda increase their prices on eBay sales these days
Perhaps but their 20% off eBay sales are still cheaper than their own site and are the most regular of all Nikon discounts that are mentioned on Ozbargains.
The Goodguys sometimes trumps them as does JBHiFi but their sales don't come around as often despite sometimes offering very heavy discounts.
Not everyone who has a desire for an item, wishes to put off holding it in their hot little hand until the best sale turns up.
OP is looking for a "good active deal" but has just missed out on the latest eBay sales, but its likely that another will start before anyone else's does simply due to the regularity of eBays 20% off deals.
If OP has patience they may benefit from professional photographer and reviewer Thom Hogans assertion that the D3400 should come up for renewal this yearl given their normal update cycle.
Regarding camera bodies, personally I prefer to wait for a great deal rather than simply awaiting for an eBay sale but the OP's question was about "active" sales.
OP can https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/276451
And 20% off eBay isn't active either.
As per above I actually buy from Ryda too.
Keep looking
