TPG NBN Refund

Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone received an email from TPG or your isp in regards to a refund for not achieving the speeds you paid for? Here's the email I got today.

"Dear Homr,

You are entitled to a refund for your previous NBN contract with TPG

We are writing to inform you that we have checked your National Broadband Network (NBN) connections you previously had with TPG and found that you could not receive the internet speeds you were paying for. We have entered into an undertaking with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) to offer you a refund because we are likely to have breached the Australian Consumer Law. As a result, we are offering you a refund of $50.

You were paying for a Superfast plan which had maximum speeds of 100Mbps download and 40Mbps upload.

The maximum speeds you could actually receive were 54.807Mbps download and 23.528Mbps upload."

Anyone else received this or is this some sort of scam??? Pretty underwhelming that the refund is only $50, was expecting couple of $100s :p

Or you can advise me how to get more and I'll give you a % of it :)

  • I don’t understand how youre entitled for a refund when the next lowest package is 50 and you could receive over that.

    • When I was with TPG, there was no 50Mbps plan. There was only 25 or 100

      • Well that makes even less sense, you could get over double the next cheapest plan. Must be very stringent anti-misleading policies. I do not agree with you getting any compensation hahaha.

        • haters gonna hate

  • We got a similar email, only offering us $249.99 (and our speeds were a lot higher than what you were getting, on the same plan. I'm talking a couple Mbps off target)

  • How you get $250 refund and I only get $50? How long were you with TPG for? I was with them for 6 months before I had to relocate.

    • I was wondering the same. We were connected for approx 16 months before relocating to a non-NBN area.

    • The refund is "…between $10 and $30 for each month that they paid for their plan."

I was with them for 6 months & only got offered $10!

      • That's not really fair.

If I'm honest, I am more than happy with the refund because we were getting decent speeds, no drop outs. Everything was dandy. We relocated and have Telstra ADSL here and it stinks. Absolute rubbish in comparison!
