I have some early Christmas shopping sorted. Basically a toy elf and a book, but kids seem to love it. Idea is you read the book with your kids and then move the elf around your house (without the kids seeing you do it). By moving the Elf around, your kids believe (as explained in the book) that during the night the elf via magic went back to the north pole and told Santa your kids wishes and if they have been naughty or nice.

  I always thought Elf on the Shelf had a spy cam in it, and the book told your kids that the elf reports to Santa if the kid has been good or not, but in reality it's just you checking the recordings to see what they get up to when they think they are alone. I guess that wouldn't make sense because kids would just tell each other about the famous elf in the shelf spy cam.
