      I guess one with wheels is an easy starter, a couple sensors to detect walls and what not.

        i've used these with high school students and had good results. Hook it up to the RPi (or an arduino) with a SR-HC04+ and away you go. The cheaper SR-HC04 is 5V, SR-HC04+ is 3.3-5V.

  I ordered mine from LITB (on 11/1) for USD$7 and admit it did feel like it took extra long time to arrive (compared to other things I've purchased from LITB) - however it did arrive a few days ago.

    Same experience here. Ordered on 11 Jan from LITB, got an email from them on 18 Jan saying "shipped", and it only arrived a few days ago on 20 Feb…
    For the super low price I paid though, I'm not too upset.

  My order of the same from a LITB deal a month ago arrived fine in a reasonable time. But I'm getting pestered with spam emails from them …one a day, occasionally twice a day. I went to my account and changed the settings but it made no difference. A couple of days ago I clicked the Unsubscribe link within the mail. Maybe this will do it.

  Based on that experience and other negative comments they would have to have a really great deal for me to buy from them again.
