I need to buy new pool equipment (salt water pool) and the quote from my local Swimmart was ~$5k for the package. Was wondering if anyone knew of cheaper alternatives. Am mainly looking at buying new rather than secondhand.

As per my post, I am looking for alternatives to the local poolshop. Do you have a specific one in mind?
Just keep shopping around. Look at online pool shops. I suspect you’ll have a hard time finding filter or chlorinate anywhere else. A pump might be found cheaper at a pump supplier, but would need to be compatible with the salt water of the pool.
Been looking a fair bit online but not having much luck finding the equipment I want. The frustrating thing I have found is that a lot of the manufacturers (E.g. Waterco) do not sell to the public and the markup from pool shops is quite extraordinary. That is probably why I have 3 pool shops within walking distance from my house…
Our local also has a decent online prescence. Direct pool supplies, but in not sure wether prices are any better than in store. I suspect they are the same.

I can recommend a place to supply and install a Pentair media filter (filled with glass). This was hundreds cheaper than getting a local Poolwerx to do it.

Great service - called him in early December and he came out the next day and did the job.
