    • don't you need H20 and O2, not CO2, because tyres need air and water don't they?

        yes

        no

  • Hi huntress,

Most people use these for inflating bike tyres (you need an inflation head though).
You can use them for paintball as well, or anything else that needs CO2.

    cyssero…I wish…hahaha.

    • you serious, isn't the air pumps @ petrol stations air and water, it say that bikes can also inflate their tyres there too?

      • that's fine if you are near a petrol station when you get a flat… chances are though that you are not…

        • Hi jv, thanks for the answer, that's what I was going to say. If anyone cycles a bit, they'll know that when you get a flat, it's probably not going to be a good time (i.e. in the middle of whoop-whoop, at night, in the rain, or all of the above).

Also, never say to yourself "I hope I don't get a flat now", hahaha.

        • like whenever my bike tyre is flat, i got to the petrol station and pump the air and water

        • And when you get a flat bike tyre 5km away from a petrol station?

        • It's a long way to Tipperary…

      • Road bikes with narrower tyres need higher pressures than a petrol station pump can deliver, and use a different valve as well which doesn't fit.

        Mountain bikes - 40 psi
Hybrids - 60 psi (this is as high as a petrol station compressor will go usually)
        Road bikes - 100 to 120 psi.

      • What are you talking about re: "air and water"? Are you trying to make a joke?

Tyres contain gas - using compressed (plain) air, but specialist gasses are also used for racing.

The only tyres that get water in them are used on tractors, and teh water is used to make them heavier for more grip (but that's the last thing you'd want on a bicycle).

        • maybe he washes his bike their too ???

        • +1

I suspect when he goes to put air in his car tyres, he goes over to the sign at the service station that says "air and water". And doesn't realise they are two seperate products….

Also, FYI, the service station air hoses say that you should NOT use them to inflate bike tyres (I assume because they can over-inflate a tyre very quickly if you're not careful….so just be careful, and pay attention to the pressure gauge).

        • yeah, its true about the air hoses not being used to inflate bike tyres/balls/trolley tyres, now warnings are put on the things coz some buffoon got his hand cut open when his trolley tyre exploded.

  • Haha respect for suggesting using them for BBs :)

  • Hi Mark,

When are you going to do us OzBargainers a special deal on a new mountain bike?

    • Hi Bob,

Mate, we're working on it. When everything is finalised, OzBargain will be the 1st to know. I'm just having a chat with the big-bosses to make sure we do it right, and give a genuine bargain, not some superficial, phoney baloney (by the numbers) discount.

Any idea what kind of bike you'd like to see discounted?

      • "Any idea what kind of bike you’d like to see discounted?"

        a bike for my 4 yo's birthday next month… :)

        • I hope I'm allowed to do this, but we are doing a kids bike sale tomorrow online & instore. Have a look, if it's 'meh', let me know what would make you happy.

Since we are discounting a whole category, I don't think we can put it on here.
