  • WOW. Got mine 6 months ago for $12xx and that was a great deal. Ordered from HK on Fri and arrived Mon morning.

Can't fault the Mavic Pro, just so reliable and easy to use.

    • +1

And the air is mostly better! Particularly in wind.

      • Doh…..ok didn't notice that.

      • Mostly.. they made sure not include OccuSync though.

        • Arent goggles pretty much illegal for private use in Aus tho? How do you maintain line of sight if you've got goggles on?

        • @Putnum: you'll need a spotter.

        • @Putnum: Occusync doesn't relate to goggles … it's the communication protocol between between drone and remote control that provides the video feed and telemetry. It provides a more reliable connection than the WiFi protocol of Spark and Air meaning flight is more reliable even in visual range.

        • @roller: Ok thanks for that. Still getting my head around it all. From what I've seen on YouTube though, the Air's wifi protocol range looks fine for Australia. You wouldn't want to send it too far away anyway at risk of it not returning. I saw one video where a guy landed it right next to a huge body of water on 2% battery!

        • @Putnum:

Just so you know, in AUS we use CE protocol, in the USA they use FCC, so the 4km range is only for flying in the USA. It's 2km maximum for here. (and realistically, not even that, as they downgrade the wifi power for Aus/Europe flying)

        • @ladofdestiny: I wouldn't want to fly it that far away, but thanks 😊

Even vertically, we have a 100m legal limit but from what I could tell, 100m is about as high as I'd want to take it too.

        • @Putnum: I think it's 120m up (it stops you at that height), and yes I wouldn't want to go 2kms away either, but having your drone only broadcasting signal at 1/2 strength (due to the CE gimping) also means that it get s a lot more interference anywhere that's not really remote.

Source, I have one, and it happens a lot and much closer that you expect (200m away sometimes)

        • +1

          @Putnum:

          actually following the rules ahahaha

        • @laurence: Laws? yeah probably a good idea

    • Did you have to pay gst and customs fee?

  • Man wasnt it a year ago pros where $2k!

    • I got a Pro flymore package in Sep for $1,269.36 delivered (Ebay 20% promo).

  • Does this include gst?

  • Thanks OP - good price for the combo.

  • I rushed into this and bought it with out doing research first.

Anything with this seller/deal stopping anyone else from buying it that i should have been aware off?

    • +1

      Rookie mistake.

      • We're all guilty of this one at one stage or another

    • +1

PP/CC will cover if it doesnt arrive or DOA etc, but if its your first quad odds are you're more likely to crash it then having a warranty issue, so purchase Care-Refresh which is drone insurance which will cover user error if you manage to damage it beyond repair - Or just for piece of mind :)

      • Thanks :) I have had the Xiaomi drone for a year but its impossible to backpack with and heading off traveling in a few weeks. Maybe i should have waited for another deal after doing some research lol

        • +1

If it makes any difference I've bought a fair bit from these guys, especially electronics. Have not had any issues to date. Shipping has always been pretty quick.

        • +1

If you can control the Xiaomi, you should be fine. Wont last as long in the air but for its size/weight its pretty impressive.

Xiaomi is pretty impressive also, you get a lot for your money.

        • @simgue: Great to hear thanks :)
The ebay store says based in Australia, eglobalcentral-au. Just wondering if you ever received a tax invoice with ABN* that was eligible for TRS at the airport?

        • @davohatcher: I don't think I did. I last got a watch from them a year or so ago and didn't get an ABN on the receipt. They may provide if requested directly.

      • +2

The Air is pretty hard to crash. Youve gotta basically put it straight into sports mode and fly like a knob, probably illegally.

It's got front AND rear obstacle dodging in normal flight mode.

        • +2

          It's also pretty tough tbh
I've crashed mine twice (New pilot doing stupid stuff I know), once was in sportmode flying full speed face first into my fence, the other was a crash into a tree flying sideway and dropped from 6m or so. After all that, the only damage was 2 props.

        • If it's anything like the Spark, the obstacle avoidance mode severely limits your top speed…

        • @Marty131: Yep, you can't do it in Sports mode.

In Sports mode however, it goes faster than the Pro and Pro Platinum, maxing out at about 68kph

        • @Putnum:

With my Spark, obstacle avoidance on, I swear max speed is 15km/h or less. With obstacle avoidance off (and sport mode off), it's more like 25km/h. With sports mode on, we're talking 45km/h+

TLDR; On the spark, turning on obstacle avoidance results in approx. 1/3rd of max speed of the drone…

    • An Ozbargainer after my own heart

Dji’s QC is terrible. So many units with dodgy cameras blurry on one side of the image, or numerous other problems they pretend don’t exist when you contact support. I would happily pay more for local stock to know they’ll accept returns. The “refresh” crap DJI sells is even worse. I know mates who have been sent clearly refurbished units with new faults altogether. That’s not even getting at the fact you have to send the busted drone back to DJI. If you lose it over the ocean or can’t retrieve it for any other reason, you’re screwed! You’re better off with actual drone insurance.

  • +2

Good price for grey import, if you want cheapest, basicvalue with the PICK5 code is the best price I've seen for AU stock if that matters to you ~$1300.

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/253388036687

Some here have tested the waters and DJI demand you provide proof of purchase on a warranty claim (they deny them if not from Authorised dealer) so purchasing AU stock from a Non-Authorised dealer may well be the same as purchasing grey stock in the long run should you ever really need to make a warranty claim.

So with that in mind, this may very well be the best deal yet :)

    • Listing says sent from HK

      • +1

If you contact them before buying
They can check their warehouse in Melb to see if they have stock there and ship from that warehouse instead of HK. Their ebay stock and warehouse stock seems to be different.
I got my Air from them and was shipped from Melb.

      • +2

Having purchased my Mavic Air Fly More Combo from this seller, I can confirm that mine was the AU/NZ kit shipped from their Australian warehouse (in Melbourne). Lodged with AusPost 1Feb and was delivered to Sydney on 5Feb.

Tip: Use eBay messages to contact them and you'll likely land with a chap named "Jarek". He can confirm AU stock levels and where your order will ship from.

        • +1

How can they sell from inside Australia/Australian stock, and not collect/pay GST? Did you get GST listed on your invoice?

        • +1

          @ptrg: Found the ATO's account

        • +1

@ptrg: They do not provide a compliant tax invoice and you need to go through them if you want to make a warranty claim. My hypothesis is that they're grey importing AU/NZ stock and skirting the five local official distributors.

      • Yeah it's not, sent from Melbourne. I bought one from him.

    • +2

      That's for warranty claims.
If you get the dji care, you just buy the coverage in the country you are from. Doesn't matter where you purchased the drone. Been confirmed tens of times on the DJI forums. (I did this myself with a Hong Kong bought mavic, and it accepted australia dji care)

    • I am assuming this doesnt include GST.

      • No GST invoice from them so they are the same as grey import in term of warranty. You can still buy DJI Care Refresh in Australia though

        • Hence you may as well buy this one since "AU stock" doesn't mean a whole lot if you can't make a warranty claim.
Save a few bucks on the ozbargain fallacy that AU stock = warranty.

        • @BargainKen: But this one is sent from HK so there's a chance you might have to pay custom while the other one you don't have to worry about it

        • @BargainKen:

Just be aware eGLOBAL /DWI will weasel out of any warranty they may seem to provide.

The warranty for batteries supplied with drones is only 3 months, they hide this well on their website.

PayPal will side with you and offer a full refund in the event of a failure of a battery outside the 3 months however you will have to send the whole drone kit back to them for a full refund.

        • @Hank Scorpion: DJI is not much better at 6 months warranty on batteries.

        • @Hank Scorpion: FYI DJI drones warranty isnt a full proper 12 months as per URL

E.G gimbal is only 6 months.

          https://www.mydrones.com.au/pages/dji-warranty-period-of-mai…
          https://www.dji.com/service/policy

With such a shit warranty like that, whats the point of even having it? Is this even legal in Aus?

  • Tempting but still holding out for the Mavic Pro 2.

    • Good luck getting a fly more bundle for the pro 2 anywhere near this cheap!

      • +3

I'm happy to pay more for better features. No way I expect the price to be similar.

But it will probably drive the prices on the existing range down further.

For right now I agree this is a great deal.

  • +1

Rather wait for Mavic Pro 2 announced next month most likely

  • I tried to buy this item but every time I try to apply the "P20TECH" voucher code I get "This code can't be applied to your order.". I tried Paypal as well as credit card as payment options. Contacted the seller without any luck. Any ideas guys? Thanks in advance. :)

    • I just bought with no issues. Are you buying through the eBay app or the web store? Have you tried clearing cookies or using a PC etc? Hope you figure it out!

    • U need to link ur Paypal acc to ur ebay acc.

  • That’s very cheap, guess paving way for Mavic pro 2 release in April

  • -6

Can't wait till someone find a way of legally making and selling something that will shoot illegally operated drones down

  • Out of stock, hopefully they get some more

  • Is the "Brand New DJI Mavic Air RTF Kit Onyx Black" (not Fly More bundle) for $1185 - 20% a good deal?

  • Received mine yesterday. Shipped from Hong Kong but the label on the box says UK model. Where did everyone get their AUD charger from? Using a xbox plug as it's the same fit.

  • Hi Ozb peeps
