budget?
you can get outright phones for $20 or less with basic features
but those are low range
midrange you'll be looking at approx $150-$400
highrange $400+

budget is a couple of hundred dollars. A nice phone for a mate's wife, including decent camera un features.

  Garmin-ASUS A50 Nuvifone $199 at DSE. Might be a 10% Paypal rebate still applicable too.. search Ozbargain.
  It does come with Optus branding but is not network locked to Optus.
  
  It's an Android touchscreen phone with proper Garmin GPS software and lifetime Aus/NZ maps updates.
  Camera isn't superb, but is OK and it will run the majority of apps.
