    I never understood this joke as a kid, and yet it was in every joke book for some reason.

    • Thankfully today’s kids have google and can lookup ‘flunk’.
      But the delivery of the joke that is more important than the context (why I don’t get joke books)

      • When I read this as a kid I always thought “flunk” was the sound of a handful of cashews being thrown down onto a wooden coffee table. I thought the professor was indicating that he wasn’t going to pass the nuts, he was going to grab a fistful and scatter them loudly.

        Kids fill in the blanks when they don’t understand something.
