Makita HP331DZ 10.8v (12V) CXT Combi Drill Cordless Body Only $45 Delivered @ Tools4Trade

160

Same model listed here on Ozbargain was $169 now $99 at Bunnings.
This deal is just $45 delivered.

Dealing with warranty problems may well be an issue with buying from the UK, but at this price you could afford 2 and still save if one goes wrong.

Picture showing incorrectly as the impact drill not combi drill. Which is the same price

If you buy both you get free delivery and both for around $80 delivered.

  • if you buy 2 then AU$36 each delivered .

delivery is otherwise $10.61 for one.

so worth buying a second for $26.

  • of course you still need to buy a kit locally to get batteries and a 240V charger.

    • The batteries are cheaper there too. As with the charger but you'd need an adaptor for that

      • I bought a charger from aliexpress. works fine with my makita battery. link US$17.50 delivered

        • Where to get the battery cheaper?

@ozbargainkim: tools4trade have pretty decent prices for Makita batteries. A generic from ebay is probably ok but you don't know until you get it whether it has the advertised capacity.

I bought an empty Makita BL1830 battery case with circuit board from aliexpress for AU$15 delivered and (as one of my many projects) will pack it with 8 18650 batteries recovered from discarded laptop batteries. I have a pile of reclaimed 18650s that I've tested their capacity on my LiitoKala lii-500 charger. here is the ifixit guide I will be using for the packing.

@altomic: Most laptop cells won't have high enough current drain for a tool.

You will need cells capable of doing 15amps+. Most laptop cells will top out at 7amps max.
The 18v drill are capable of around 350 watts. 18v @ 20amps is around the power they draw at max.

          What cells do you have?
You would also need to use all the same cells so you can't mix 2000mah with 2600mah cells and dont mix brands.

Plus if the laptop battery is already used the cells may have already reach peak cycle and might not have many cycle left in them. So then you will need to do the whole pack again.

  • Thanks for the link - good prices on there

  • They cancelled my order… Anyone else? Is there a shipping limit/restriction on batteries?

  • Oh and FYI just realised this is NOT the hammer drill version, it's this one: https://www.bunnings.com.au/makita-cxt-12v-max-cordless-dril…

    • Thats a totally different model number though.

If you google hp331dz, its definitely the hammer version.

      • Hmmm ok scratch that. Dunno how I got confused…

  • Pardon my ignorance, but what is the advantage with these 12V drills? How do they compare the the compact 18V Makita tools?

Are these the ones that tradesmen use with a 12V charger in their car?

    • Its slightly lesser powered than the 18v tools. Not everyone needs as much torque for day to day use hence the lower priced versions.

No they dont charge from your car, just from the batteries as usual.

  • I personally would never buy an aftermarket power tool battery. And its always far more economical to buy kits than separates. Therefore I think this is a good deal for someone who already has a kit, or will buy one, but not to start out.

  • My money has been refunded, think this was a pricing error.
