    For one lucky person jumping onto the Sony camera sales. This is a highly recommended travel lens and is the cheapest I've ever seen for Aus stock.
    Last I looked there's only one unit left at this price.

    Sony 24-105mm f/4 Gmaster lens with OSS. Apparently a good everyday lens and a cheaper alternative to the 24-70mm f/2.8 unless you really need the extra stops.

        Apples to oranges. 24-105 is a better range imo, better build quality and allows for in camera corrections. Also, who gives a toss what badge g or g master the lens carries. The Tamron has a place but I'd spring for this lens as a general purpose/travel option.

      This is a good price for a great lens. I’ve used it for several months now and find it exactly like all the reviews said - versatile. It’s not g master, but I think you won’t be disappointed with the range, sharpness and colour out of this lens.

        Yeah there's a few places like T-Dimension that do grey import for <$1500!
        The one I posted is Aus stock and warranty which I was after because there was a Sony notice about repairs for certain batches. For $80 I wanted the peace of mind in case the lens was one I needed to take in for the repair.

      What? All network devices bar cables, hubs and repeaters switch at layer 2 as a minimum. Does this also mean the EdgeRouter does not route at layer 3?

        Edgerouters are MIPS soft-routers like Mikrotik that run pfSense or other router OS's. but they often have PoE and SFP ports, which make it a bit more useful than netgear / belkin / TP-Link gear.

        The ER-12 is similar to a 4-port software "router" for handling load balancing and VPN/VNETs, as well as SPI/DPI for inspecting WAN traffic types/ports, and also QoS or Smart Queue/FQ-Codel for NBN/Async WAN speeds. The extra 8 ports plus the 2 SFP gigabit ports can be placed in different VLANs, or bridged to act as a single switch.

        How useful this is for you, depends on what you 'need' and what you want it to do.

        Unifi/UBNT/Ubiquiti is both 'cheap' and expensive. you can run a home lab, a Wireless ISP, or a corporate HQ, Unifi/UBNT price themselves as budget-cisco routers with a strong emphasis on WiFi/radio links, and having managed hardware for SMB/500-1000 CPE businesses. Their product line is corporate to SOHO IT.

        Arguably, the main difference between the USG and the Edgerouters, is that the Unifi/USG range has a GUI, less corporate/CPE features, and the switches can usually run 24v/48v PoE, as well as PoE+ for 'expensive' PoE runs, i.e. longer cabling with power, cameras that have heating elements to defog, to run PoE powered light panels, etc.

        UBNT/Edgerouters use Passive 24v PoE, not 48v that you find in IP cameras or other devices, and Unifi's commercial wireless/ISP products use 24v PoE. Some of the ER series can support 24/48v, but it's uncommon.

        Essentially, it's a software router that can handle 300-450mbps with load balancing, VPN, packet filtering/SPI OR FQ-Codel for QoS on the internet, VLAN bridging, but because it's done in software, it can only "Bridge" the first 8 ports, the other 2 are for different subnetworks, i.e. load balancing, or WAN connections, sic.

      I have this, free sync with nvidia cards works ok and overall good value for high hz gaming. However coming from a 4K screen the general desktop/browsing was quite a step down in quality, probably due to the ppi difference.

    Hi guys, absolute beginner at posting deals but I thought I'd add this one since it's a pretty decent deal. Been seeing a lot of people getting on the 2070 super band wagons and although you can currently get a pretty decent one for around the $800 mark the 2080 is still a little bit better.

    I'm pretty sure this is the cheapest this particular gpu has ever been, but that's almost a given with the market the way it is atm.

        5700 is $550, 5700xt has moved up since launch to $650.

        Customs are meant to be pretty in line with that, it's just the "new cards so we're charging you a tonne" happening (hopefully) with the customs.

        These being the "mid range", we'll probably see a lower tier card that equals the 1070/1070ti for 1060 prices.

          GTX 1030 (tons of shitty variants)
          GTX 1050
          GTX 1050ti

          Nvidia mid tier GPUs (1080p gaming cards):
          GTX 1060 3GB
          GTX 1060 6GB
          GTX 1660
          GTX 1660Ti
          RTX 2060 Super (this straddles mid to high end)

          Nvidia high tier GPUs (1440p gaming cards):
          RTX 2070 Super
          RTX 2080 Super

          Nvidia enthusiast tier GPUs (4K gaming cards):
          RTX 2080Ti
          Titan RTX

          So I reckon 5700 is mid range, while 5700 XT is high end.

        On a strictly price per performance basis, probably not. This might be attractive for those with GSync monitors, or for anyone keen on RTX compatibility (even if performance is still fairly ordinary right now).

        Unless you absolutely need Nvidia, no. The xt is nearly $300 cheaper for a 10% loss in performance.

          No way…not sure where you check the reviews but this is much faster than XT. Rtx 2080 is 13%~21% faster than.

              @N1NJ4W4RR10R: You can't take averages like that for the 5700xt and rtx comparisons since each game will be different. Single player shooters or rpg's with huge maps and textures favor the nvidia line sometimes by upwards of 20% in this case whereas games with alot going on at once and with better optimisation for amd will favor the 5700xt by similar margins.

      Is there something cheaper but still powerful enough for some 4K Premiere Pro editing on a Win10 machine? At least 4GB RAM and lots of CUDA cores would be good. Maybe under $600. It's a minefield of choices out there.

        In the budget, it's the 5700xt on sale, or the RTX 2060 Super/regular

        or the RTX 2070 on grey-import/discount/sale if your budget will stretch that far.

        The 5700xt isn't terrible (though people will argue that it is), mostly due to software support for AMD's encoders and their CUDA/OpenCL support is lacking. There are going to be AMD related problems because of software compatibility issues, but Nvidia's had worse over the years, YMMV. If you use programs other than Adobe CC, Nvidia/CUDA is likely to be overwhelmingly supported, because AMD hasn't pushed itself onto developers or helped developers with implementation.

        With Premiere CC The differences are marginal, because the CUDA and OpenCL isn't really being used to full potential with video and encode/decode.

        with export rendering of transitions, a lot of the throughput is paging RAM to GPU, and performing Math/LUT, which needs threads. Having 16 or 24 threads on the Ryzen 7, will be effective. You would probably get more out of the Zen 2 based CPUs than a faster GPU for most encoding needs, but it really depends on the kind of build you need, or have already. The Ryzen 9 12-core 3900x and the intel 8-core i9 9900k, are beasts, and paired with even the RTX 2060 which is … entry level in the RTX ray-tracing space, it's more than enough for workflow and desktop use.
