Is this like a Nutella type thing?

    • +20

Yeah, but with peanut butter and chocolate rather than hazelnuts. Different flavour. Taste like melted Reese’s peanut butter cups spread on your toast/bread/biscuit/body.

        spread on your toast/bread/biscuit/body

        ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

        • +1

          That's a face/head …. where's the body ??

      • Mmmmmm sounds yumm

    • +1

I bought this thinking it may be like Nutella but it really isn't. Not just the flavour but also the consistency - this is very grainy rather than smooth. Love Reeses pieces but hated this spread.

      • +1

The jar I bought was very grainy, too, which made it pretty unpalatable. I’m not sure if it’s meant to be like that, or if the ingredients were damaged due to some external factor such as the jars being transported at too low or too high a temperature. Either way, I ended up binning it, and probably won’t run the risk of buying it again, unless others report a much smoother consistency.

    • +1

only has 1/2 the saturated fat of Nutella, Nutella uses palm oil.

So this Reese spread might be healthier than Nutella in some ways.

      • +1

Has essentially the same amount of sugar though, 19g per 37g serve, so 51% sugar composition vs Nutella at 56%.

I'll stick to my normal mayvers thanks

      • This is made with trans fats. The word healthy shouldn’t be used anywhere near this stuff. Google hydrogenated oils if you’re interested.

This spread is sooo effing goooood!!!!!!1! Gonna stock up

i like all of these things

    • +1

Nutella is 10.6 gms so 10.6% saturated fat due to more palm oil, Reeses is only 4.5% (2gms per 37gm serving).

  • +6

Damn I wish I knew sooner. Could have used this last night for valentines…

    • +2

this could be taken in 2 different ways….

      • +5

Managed to find more actually :P

i thought it was way too sweet. I love nutella but not this.

    • they're probably both over 50% sugar.. no difference really?

      • +3

You made me dig for it, but Nutella 56% and Reese’s 51%. Little bit of brand bias probably.

        • no brand bias. i love reese's and i love pb. but somehow the other ingredients in the nutella must balance it out - are there more hazelnuts in the nutella than peanuts in the pb? or perhaps the different oils or types of sugar - the reese's one reminds me of powdered sugar… weird huh!

Reese is best eaten with a spoon

  • Is it in all stores? I couldn't find it in their catalog.

I just copped in Carnegie so probs

  • Fatties gonna fatty.

Bought one of these and accidentally destroyed it within a few days.
    Never again.

  • -5

lol @ this deal. Nobody in Australia knows what Reese's is.

    • +4

Most people in Australia know what reese's is…..

      • A few dozen people who have been to the US?

        • Between the internet and the huge amount of film and television from the US that we consume, I'm willing to bet more people know about the brand than don't.

There will be a huge amount of people that haven't tried it though, not too many places stock the products.

Side note: I don't really like Reese's PB cups, but I bought some of this to try.

      • Yep, depends how cosmopolitan you are and your supermarket stocks lots of niche things or you live in an obscure suburb where the supermarkets carry less exotic items.

        • There's no Australian distributor for the product - it's all imported direct from the US. They don't advertise here at all. I don't see how anyone could be familiar with such a product.

        • +1

@MrZ: There's this thing called the internet… that and 'The Reject Shop'

        • +1

          @MrZ:

Costco sells Reeses stuff, as do many servos and stuff around the country. Reese's peanut butter cups and the various spin offs are just not a rare thing anymore at all. Even before they got here many people knew it from the movies and stuff.

  • I'd be very surprised if this had less than 50% sugar

    • +3

      51.4% to be exact

      • Might as well just add this to my coffee instead, a peanut butter mocha!

  • My god, once I got this I ate the whole jar using a tablespoon in 3 days. Soooo good.

    • +1

yes, I need to try some, looks like a healthier (not healthy) alternative to Nutella.

      • +1

Resist, don’t fall into the trap. I’m still salivating. Must….be…..strong

  • need to check woolies specials, if they ice cream on special too I will head out tonight and get some ….. can't resist

  • what's the difference between peanut butter and jam?

    • most jams are made from fruit maybe ?

    • I know the answer but it's not quite ozbargain friendly…

      • +1

I can't peanut butter my papers in your printer

  • I bought a bottle of this…

It's very grainy and dry in texture, and it has a very sickly sweet after-taste…typical American style sweet. Also, the amount of kJ in it is INSANE. And it's close to 55% sugar by weight.
