  • Time to go shopping!

  • Do u think they will really give you 50% off gold jewellery.

  • are these ontop of current sales

  • It says off the regular price.
But most normal sales have heaps of instore excusions, usuall red or yellow tagged items.
Apart from the Swarovski stuff this is discount off everything advertised.

  • It does say on the bottom of the letter "These offers will enable to you purchase items well below their current promotional price – you get the better deal"

  • With 50% markdown on gold, how does one know what the actual value really is!!!

  • +1

is this real/confirmed? i'm too paranoid to be the first to try this, only to find that its another fake lol.

waiting for a guinea pig to confirm the validity of this first :D

  • Well,

    1. Everything appears to be spelled correctly
    2. Myles Norman is the marketing manager at Prouds
    3. If you check the PDF properties, the author is mylesn which is probably Mr. Norman's username for his computer/network.

It's either real or a good fake. The majority of fakes posted here look fake, have huge spelling errors or some other things that gives it away as fake.

How much do they usually knock off jewellery when you negotiate?

  • Just looking through their catalogue. So the discount is on the regular retail price and not their sales/promotional prices, so while 50% sounds good it's very similar to regular prices.

    http://www.prouds.com.au/catalogue.php

    Some random examples:
    GOLD:
9ct good diamond studs WAS $499 NOW $299 with this LETTER $250
Solid gold bangle WAS $1199 NOW $599 with this LETTER $599

    WATCH:
Casio Stopwatch WAS $69 NOW $49 with this letter $42

    etc. etc.

I suppose it's good if you want an item that isn't on sale but with so many items on sale, it seems to be equivalent to a normal promotion. Plus you can usually negotiate with them and knock a bit off the price anyway.

  • Still very much not used to how gold jewellery is sold here. Too used to (price of gold) x (weight of the gold jewellery) + labour pricing…

    • why is this being modded down so much?

    • Agreed, have no idea how they price gold jewellery here.

How is this a bargain , I haven't been past a Jewelery store that didn't have an "up to 50/60% Off" sign in the front window .

  • can anyone confirm if there is a gold item in the catalog that say was $200 and is now down to $100 - do you get 50% off the $100 meaning it will cost $50 - or only 50% off the "Regular Retail Price" - meaning you get it the same as what it is in the catalog anyway so no point??

Because the letter says "50% off the regular retail price "

Everything in the catalogue is on sale and is somewhere around the 40-50% off mark anyway. The letter would not help in the those situations. It's the things that are not on sale (e.g. not listed in the catalogue) that you would get a discount on. In other words, instead of having a "some things are on sale" sale, everything is on sale. That's my interpretation anyway.

  • It makes you wonder how much they are ripping people off when things are not on sale.

  • called in yesterday and they are waiting to confirm discount today. Lady in the store yesterday 2IC didn't know anything about it

  • Used this today at the store in Eastlands Shopping Centre (Ringwood, VIC). Talked to several people who both knew of the promo, and even honored it without showing the form (just mentioned the 'friends and family discount'). Managed to get a $500 ring for 50% off!
