Stock up and store upside down :)
Helps the natural oils to remain inside the butter, instead of pooling at the top. But from what I've read from others here, these plastic tubs can leak sometimes when stored upside down.
Maybe alternate week by week, upside down, right way up etc.
Edit; thanks for the find. Time for me to stock up again :)
but if you turn it upside down, wouldnt the oils invert and then you have it all on the bottom (which is the new top)? it sounds harder to mix in when its on the bottom?

Too much effort
Natural peanut butter has no added rubbish oils to stabilise the product so if you leave it on the shelf the peanut oil will go to the top and the bottoms will be dry.
So storing upside down and stirring between uses will minimise the dry bottom problem. Also don't store in the fridge while consuming a jar.
see my other comment
'but if you turn it upside down, wouldnt the oils invert and then you have it all on the bottom (which is the new top)? it sounds harder to mix in when its on the bottom?'
It's easier to mix the oil when it's on the bottom than to mix it at the top because the bottom would already have the solid settle.
Otherwise you end up with oily pb at the start and by the end of the jar, you have paste and no lubrication
There is a definite technique, you will figure it out. If you don't do something and just scoop from the top the bottom will be very dry at the end.
That is why they add the hydrogenatied oils to normal peanut butter which then turns a healthy product into one which is not. Then there is the sugar in them too.
Or you can just give it a good stir each use.
But the crap container then leaks the peanut oil all through your pantry!!!!
True but if you are careful in closing the lid the problem is minimised.
I wish they would just go to a normal jar and stop trying to be different.
@SamR: It probably uses 0.4% less plastic or something.
too hard to stir in jar when full - mayvers/pics
prefer someone to produce new variant in tomato bottle
just shake and squeeze , no mess with spoon/knife
@phunkydude:
sounds like it'd be too runny. I stir with chopsticks first and then when its half incorporate i mix with a spoon. i have to lick off 2 utensils though instead of 1 :)
Thanks for the tip!
Upsides down, right side up is a non issue if you factor in the plain fact that Natural Peanut butter tastes sh$te. I bought a jar once and tossed it straight in the bin. Not sure what way up it landed but I knew it was where it should be.
Yeah, tastes like real peanuts instead of a candy bar.
@SamR: candy bar?? If Are we discussing American peanut butter, then I couldnt comment. As I have not tried it.
Normal peanut butter has partially hydrogenated vegetable oils and sugar added.
It turns a healthy product in a confectionery.
Partially hydrogenated vegetable oils are things you really want to avoid.
@SamR: Partially Hydrogenated vegetable oils sound just what I'm looking for! Thanks, I'll keep an eye out.
Is this with or without "The Mother"
mmm, Kombucha peanut butter….
Now I need to buy this to make some, thanks ozb.
Great tasting peanut butter. One of my faves (Along with Mavers)
My wife loves this, and at the rate she goes through it we need to buy on special! Thanks OP.
better not at the rate in need for dietitians I hope
how does this stack up against the king of peanut butters? (pic's)
For whatever reason, I'm not a huge fan of Pic's, always way too dry for me…my ranking - Mayvers -> Mothers -> Pics..
Thanks OP for the post, btw…my wife really likes the crunchy ones, time to stock up again…
interesting, that might be why i like it. I've found Mayvers to be so wet i can almost pour it out of the jar and into a glass.
Will have to stock up on mother then as it seems to be up there, thanks!
Who doesn't like their Mayver wet?
Ahh been waiting for Mavers to go on half price already. its taking too long. guess ill stock on this. cheers op
Not as good as Pics and Mayvers, but definitely on the podium with them. Definitely worth grabbing a few jars at half-price… :-)
chinese peanuts
Nope.
Are u serious?
Are other more common peanut butters like Kraft/Bega bad and if so what is the issue with them? Is this just crushed peanuts and nothing else?
yeah these ones (pic's, mayvers, mother etc) are generally 99.x% peanuts and a tiny bit of salt added (you really need just a bit of salt in my opinion). The kraft one has some sugar and some other additives like vegetable oil that improve spreadability but at the cost of flavour and technically aren't as good for you.
take my opinion with a grain of salt as i don't even spread peanut butter on toast - i just eat it out of the jar (about half a jar a week). I know i'll never go back to Kraft (or is it dairylea, or is it bega…?)
Bega do a '100% nuts' which is quite good, and occasionally on special.
Also, I'm not sure what they do differently, but I find that I don't have to mix it as much as other peanut butters.
Smaller jar, higher price for a mainstream product.
Now that the Kraft name is gone they will have trouble justifying the premium placement of the product.
Going to start adding a serving of this into my smoothies to try hit the 4.5k kJ mark :D
great peanut butter
its on page 13 of the catalogue
Woohoo.. good timing.. On my last jar of 10 from last time woolies had it on special a few weeks ago.
Okay, you've intrigued me. What do you use so much peanut butter for?
Hi Lorindor. Protein of course ;) Great in shakes with banana, also mix with greek yoghurt.. outrageously good.
Actual awesome advice about storing upside down. Never thought of this.
Why are people stocking up on peanut butter? NOBODY should be stocking up. its only a sometimes or rarely food. not because of its fat content. but because peanuts have alot of Aspergillus aflatoxins which is a fungus it gets by the way it grows. eating alot is very toxic and highly carcinogenic.
google it.
We all know about it.
They say similar things about the toast we spread it on and the coffee we have with it.
Google acrylamide
It’s also on french fries, potato chips, bread and other grain products. How much of those do you eat?
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/food/wp/2018/02/02/coffe…
I don’t know anyone who died of peanuts apart from allergies.
Life is a terminal disease mate.
no, people dont die from just peanuts (if not allergy related) that would be stupid. people die from many cancers and other ailments and no one knows where they come from….
not one person on earth has ever died from smoking to many cigarettes… but mysteriously, around about the same time this "lung cancer" thing pops up. mysterious indeed….
so technically you actually have no idea how many people you knew who "died from peanuts"
aspergillus is an extremely carcinogenic fungus that grows on peanuts. it takes about 600 peanuts to make one jar. good luck if you wanna "stock up".. as i said, if u ever die from eating to may jars, no one will ever know.
but it guess eating alot of peanut butter is fine because other bad things in the world also exist anyway, right?…
What do you eat dude?
Aspergillus aflatoxins Is not only in peanuts, it’s in many grains and other foods.
Acrylamide Is in anything baked or roasted.
Sugar is bad, fat is bad, too much protein is bad. Fish have mercury, greens veggies have E. coli.
Your point is valid, to a small degree but also highly sensationalist. As has already been mentioned, these toxins can be found in a wide range of products. It’s estimated 25% of the worlds entire food crops are affected mycotoxins, which invariably will end up in your milk, eggs & meat too. Run for the hills!
However, there are a few pertinent points you’ve neglected:
• Frequency & quantity – The amounts are minuscule (US limits the level of aflatoxins to under 20 parts per billion in food.)
• Location – Aflatoxins are found everywhere but are more of a concern in developing countries, where regulation is somewhat lacking i.e. I would never source nuts from China. There are also processes to remove aflatoxins from foods as well & are usually far below safety limits.
• Diet – As with most things, mother nature provides cures to help bolster your immune system. Some vegetables have been shown to reduce the carcinogenic effects of aflatoxins.
Are you also scared of vaccines? They contain a whole host of toxins?
hi. you are underestimating the ignorance here.
just have a look at some KFC deals and people going apeshi+ over it.
you will just a ton of negs for it
Was gona buy a couple however this is made in new zealand aka made in china. Dont have much faith in 99.5% peanut butter content. Only bought 1 to try
Read the label.
It says Australian nuts and if they are short the get them from Argentina. Not China
What did it taste like?
i do not eat it kids do
will let you know when we open it, still have other 100% one left over
They should really use glass TBH
I agree and i actually asked them about that.
They have a "glass free" factory for safety.
lol, and Dolmio tomato past factory is full of glass injuries
Yup, could be - tomato paste same colour as blood… ;-)
Thai is the best tasting pb. Much better than mavers and not as salty as ridiculously delicious
Thanks for posting OP. I've just realised they are Australian peanuts, so I'll be getting some.
Or perhaps not. The front of the label says Australian Peanuts but the back says "… if in short supply we get the same n\peanuts from Argentina". when they use Argentinian nuts should stick on the containers a different label which does not say Australian Peanuts. It's not all that difficult - they know which peanuts they are using.
Crap product, crap container.
I dont mind the jar, stands out from the rest when I'm in a rush and never had leak problem. Not putting any additives on my kids brekky, Mother earth for me thanks
what do you mean by store upside down? why?
