Not really a great deal considering Foxtel gives 2 months of all the channels free when purchasing from them directly for $99.
So if anything this costs an extra $200

    • In theory could I just keep buying these direct from Foxtel then sell them after?

    • It's showing 2 Weeks free not 2 Months.. See here

    • +3

That deal ended on 31 January.

      • You're right, thanks for pointing it out.
Hadn't realised obviously, in that case the deal isn't atrocious

        • +1

No worries. I still don't consider it a good deal at $92. There are other android boxes without the restrictions this one has. That deal with 2 months of all Foxtel Packs was just about worth it for the 2 months - the box was a bonus.

  • What makes it a Foxtel Now Box? Is it just called that because you can download the Foxtel streaming app onto the device to watch Foxtel?

    • Its an android box locked down to the foxtel apps basically.

      • It's not locked down too much. Most Android TV apps work, aside from Netflix and Kodi.

    Foxtel Nope :)

Much cheaper with coupons on Kogan website

    $6.99 for $50 off $120 spend.

Add a bunch of teeth whitening product (7 x $3) to bring total to $120 on Kogan website.

    $10 new signup referral
    $50 coupons
Brings price down to $60 delivered with a bunch of teeth whitening kits (or whatever you want for $20).

Where are you getting the $50 off for $6.99?

    • +1

Don't forget to refer to your old account so it gets a free $10 also

      • Oh nasty, didn't even think to refer myself. I was generous and used referral links from here.

        • I personally haven't either lol

Be aware the box needs to be powered on to be able to cast to it.

The word Foxtel should never be on this website.

I believe Netflix* and Kodi do not work on this?

*The two companies are 'in talks' apparently? So functionality may come in the future.

    • Haha doubt it. Probably means Foxtel is trying to get a cut from the other companies to include them.

      Don't see that happening

Been in Australia for 8 years now. Got Foxtel Now for free with my telstra NBN for 3 months. Holy crap is foxtel bad. How do you Aussies put up with the terrible and constant commercials? Couldn't watch for more than an hour. Cancelled a day into my 3 month trial. Who needs foxtel when you've got netflix, stan and unlimited internet to stream all to your heart's content?

    • +1

This is exactly what I think after using Foxtel for 6 months for the first time, I just cancelled. Not only the thing about ads, you need to pay to upgrade to HD for gods sake and even then most channels are not HD. There is NO 4K options at ALL.

You can get Stan + Netflix for under $30 in HD. Foxtel you need at least $55 for basic + one extra pack + HD.

The ONLY reason, is if you are an utter sports freak and NEED every football and soccer match. Almost every other sport, Rally, F1, wrestling, you can download an app and pay $10 a month to watch. Still cheaper with Stan + Netflix than in Foxtel alone.

Sport, HBO content, new release movies….

    • I wouldn't mind dropping foxtel.. I NEED to watch the walking dead, fear the walking dead and GOT. These are on FX and showcase. Can anyone please tell me a reliable way I could replace foxtel and still watch these shows? Sorry for such a basic question. I'm an oldie. 💐

      • Depends on how you feel about piracy. In Australia there is no legal way to watch these without Foxtel

        • Mmm. Thought that was the case. Thanks

      • Couldn't you just use Kodi with those repo instruction online to watch them?

  • +2

Not sure what Foxtel needs to do. But I'm generally unconvinced they do anything that's good value.

  • The box should be free with how much you get ripped off to use it

  • Thanks for posting OP.

  • Does anyone know if they sell this box in store anywhere around Sydney?
